  • OK I know this might not sound like great DFW advice but are you still able to use your credit cards? For example just for the food shopping so you have enough to get you to work or what not?

Come December it will be a whole new start for you and you can get back on your feet.

How much are you short for essentials this month?
  • my credit card is cut up. its just slightly over the limit and they wont raise it for me.

    i reckon i'm prob short of £50 or £60 for essentials x

    Hi SOBS

    Sorry you're feeling so down:grouphug:

I think most people here understand that this DFW business is very up & down - I go from feeling really positive to thinking it's all hopeless & pointless - that's when I need this board!

I can't think of any useful advice- still struggling to work my own stuff out but I bet someone here will have an idea.

Any possibility of asking the new job for a "sub"? I know it's not ideal but when things are desperate.......

Good luck & let us know what happens

    R :)

  • First of all a big hug to you.:grouphug: I can't help you find a couple of hundred overnight but I think you can improve things for the future.

What i'd suggest is slashing that NTL bill, £110 per month for phone, TV and broadband is far too much.

Also £30 PAYG is very high. I use primus talk saver for free evening calls to landlines and pretty much refuse to call people on mobiles for any longer than a minute. I use my phone for emergencies and the odd text and spend around £5 per month.

You need to really figure out where your money is going and that includes utilities. Start a spend diary and account for every penny and see where you can cut down. I don't know how you pay your utilities but I have an electric coin meter, it never felt like much but when I started making a note every time a coin went in the slot I was shocked! Once your receive your pay packet you will have an idea of how much you can pay back.

Have you included the debt to your mum/best friend in the DMP with PayPlan? You say your mum won't speak to you but if you start to pay her back and show that you are responsible hopefully things will improve.

Could you start a second job in the evenings or weekends? I couldn't survive without mine! OK its not the most fun but the extra cash combined with making savings makes a massive difference!

Best of luck, i'm thinking of you.

  • If you are short for essentials like food/gas and electric you may be able to get a crisis loan from the DWP, you dont have to have been getting benefit to be eligible. Its an extra debt but I beleive its interest free and you can pay it back in small amounts. It might be worth speaking to them or your local welfare rights to see if you can claim.

hi SOBS, please try and realise that you feeling low at the moment can and will go away, your look back at this and realise things can get sorted and pass. I

Explain to the family member that you don't have it, people prefer it if your honest and talk to them, you realise it's not that bad later on.

    Russ
  • thanks Russ. the person knows I dont have it but it isnt their problem as they quite rightly told them.
They are the guarantor on my rented house and are threatening to take their name off on Monday if I dont have it. If I dont have a gurarntor. I have a week to move out.

joy joy happiness etc x x
