I need to track the owner of a house

Hi all

I have seen a house which has been empty for some time. I would like to find the owner and ask about a possible sale of the property.

I got a copy of some land registry paperwork with the name of the registered owner.

How can I track this person, any ideas please?

Thank you for your advice.

property might not be registered so the land registry may have no details of who owns it.
you could try their website for further details...

    http://www.landreg.gov.uk/kb/Default.asp?ToDo=view&questId=135&catId=2

otherwise, you could try the local authority to see who pays the council tax - they might not be able to tell you because of data protection but you could try your luck.

    Sweet!

I have checked at land registry and there is an owner for the house (I bought some the title extract for the house for £3)

In the extract some name is menitoned as the registered owner of the property, but at the same address as the house  .

I drove past it last night and stopped to have a pep through the windows. The house looks completely empty (no furniture, no letters on the floor, nothing).

What should be my next step? I feel a bit shy to start asking neighbours and would not like to involve the council at this stage..

Seems odd that there is no letters on the floor I assume you can see next to letter box. I am wondering if someoen is picking up the mail or free papers etc. What about popping a letter through letter box?

What about the electrol rolll. If you can find owners name manybe they maybe in phone book in a different address. How about speaking to neighbours maybe they no something.

What about posting a note through the door with your contact details? If someone is picking up the mail and doing something with it then they may see it?? Or sellotaping a note to the front door? That way if the owner comes round they will read it and if interested get in contact??Just a thought?

Since you have a name, try looking on the much-maligned b4usearch website and see if it gives you any clues.

Yes, I have checked there too and the gentleman is registered to vote at that address.

Would anyone know of any online telephone directories, please?

    Thank you.

PS: I might put a note through the letter box and see where it will take me.
  • You can try 192.com they are usually more up to date that be4usearch but it is not free.
  • Also try https://www.bt.com at the bottom of the site ther is an option to sdearch for telephone numbers. Free directory enquiries bought to you by BT!
