Adding husband to my 0% card as additional holder

in Credit cards
Hi all.My husband has always had excellent credit rating, but, 3 months ago, accepted a job after being self employed for 20 years. He has a credit card, but is paying interest on it. We have applied for 0% interest on balance transfer cards, but he is always refused (I assume because he has only 'worked' for 3 months). I am considering adding his debt (£4,000) as an additional card holder on my 0% interest card, or opening a new one. Do you have any tips?
He is not spending any money on the card - only paying off the debt.
I have no concerns about adding him - I only want to know if this is possible or if there are any 'best ways'. Thanks

Your own opinion? Or has he paid a CRA to tell him that (in the form of a 'credit score')?TequilaMockingbird wrote: »My husband has always had excellent credit rating
How many (in the last 3 months)? We have applied for 0% interest on balance transfer cards
If the only 'stability' change is the new job, it shouldn't affect acceptance greatly...so long as time at address, time with bank, etc remain lengthy. But why "assume" anything? Has he checked his credit report (the report itself, not a credit score) to see if there's anything else on there?he is always refused (I assume because he has only 'worked' for 3 months).
It's not necessary to add him as an additional card holder. You can still BT his debt (held elsewhere) to your card. Just don't volunteer the fact it's not your card (although do answer truthfully if asked directly "is the card in your name?").I am considering adding his debt (£4,000) as an additional card holder on my 0% interest card, or opening a new one. Not my opinion. Yes he has been checked.
What do you mean by 'BT' his debt?0 -
BT = Balance TransferTequilaMockingbird wrote: »What do you mean by 'BT' his debt?0 -
If you mean balance transfer his debt to my card, in my name - I don't really want to do this, as it gets too complicated. I'd rather keep his debt separate, in his name, so he can manage it himself.0

BT + Balance Transfer. Move his debt to your card, and you become responsible for it. Which is what you must have been thinking of anyway?
Edit following your last post - you can't move his debt to your card and keep the debt separate. It will become yours.0 -
Then he'll need to get a card in his own name, or you'll have to apply for a new card in your name...purely for his debt.TequilaMockingbird wrote: »I'd rather keep his debt separate, in his name, so he can manage it himself.0 -
No. I want to take out an additional card, in his name, on my account.
Will he still benefit from 0%?
Are there any best ways to do this (eg - add to my existing card or apply for a new one)0 -
Yes.... but the card WILL be in his name if I take it out as additional card holder. No?0
-
No. It's your account, your debt.0

I accept that. I am merely talking from a 'housekeeping' point of view.0
