Adding husband to my 0% card as additional holder

The primary cardholder is 100% responsible for any debt placed on the card by any secondary cardholder.TequilaMockingbird wrote: »No. I want to take out an additional card, in his name, on my account.
What you want to do can't be done I'm afraid.0 -
TequilaMockingbird wrote: »Yes.... but the card WILL be in his name if I take it out as additional card holder. No?
No, the account remains yours, the responsibility remains yours, the only thing that is his is the card that you give him and the ability to run up debts on your account.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
Then, as I said before, a new 0% card in your name is the way to go.TequilaMockingbird wrote: »I accept that. I am merely talking from a 'housekeeping' point of view.
He then knows how much he owes...but the fact remains that YOU are responsible for paying it should he choose not to!0 -
I don't see why not...? When you take out a card, they ask if you want an additional card holder. I fully accept that this will be 'my' debt, but surely the additional card is issued in the person's name?0

Your post doesn't make sense...with respect to your original question!TequilaMockingbird wrote: »I don't see why not...? When you take out a card, they ask if you want an additional card holder. You can give him an additional card.
You can BT his debt to your card.
BUT...the debt is not isolated from your own, ie the 'housekeeping' benefit you desire is not possible.0 -
Ok... I think what you are all saying is that the 'additional' card holder is not actually issued with a card - they are merely allowed to use your existing card? Is that right?
So, as YorkshireBoy says, I should take out a totally new card, in my name?0 -
Yes. The bit of plastic would have his name printed on it. Is that what you mean?
Or do you mean that he will get his own statement showing spending, payments and balances made with that bit of plastic? If so, the answer is no. Whatever he does with that card will simply show up on your statement as your responsibility.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Sorry it's not clear... Does my recent post help?0

The only thing in his name is the card. But you'll get one statement with the whole debt wrapped up in one big number that you're responsible for. In an earlier post you said you didn't want his debt on your account.
Or do you now want to leave his debt where it is, and just give him a card on your account?0 -
I UTTERLY accept the debt becomes mine! The 'housekeeping' I am talking about means that a statement comes in, in his name, which helps US separate it0
