I wouldn't mind if I was paid a decent living wage without having to worry where the rent will come from or if I can afford to eat. And working for a nice person would also help. But hey ho, I was unemployed for over eight months by the time this job turned up so I literally took the first thing offered, and it's better than getting no JSA at all!
Last weeks local paper had four vacancies and only two the week before so there's not a great deal out there at the moment. I really want to start my own business but don't have the support from DH
Oops, long rant - sorry!!
You're entitled to a rant, we all are. Life is often not fair. Ranting keeps us sane
Today I have- Checked my budget and found out I'm not as badly off as I thought this month. I'd entered a deposit as an expense. So if I'm super careful I won't need to get money out of the savings account to see me through.
- Charged the phone at work
- Printed out some documents at work
- Free tea at work but they ran out of milk at lunchtime so I was gasping when I got home
- found 5p on the floor in the staffroom - put it in the penny jar along with the rest of my change.
- Had vouchers for 4 packs of flora pro activ spread in the post - I'm taking part in some marketing do dah.
- Screened out of poll at onepoll, nothing in my survey.
- Did my shopping, only about £10 for the week but had to buy Just Dance 2 and a birthday card for my grandson's birthday party tomorrow.
- Got everything I need to see me through the next week shopping wise, bar some fruit which I'll get tomorrow.
- Fell asleep on the sofa in front of QI. An early night for me I think.

I woke up yesterday thinking about you as I had had a dream wondering how you were as you hadn't been on! did ur fam like your frugal & thought chrissie gifts x
Aww thank you , I popped into work today to meet with said manager as I return from sick leave next week. My freinds there could not believe the change in me and have been texting to see if I have a new man in my life or just having great Sex :rotfl: Sadly not but that may be just around the corner
The pressies went down well. I have decided next year everyone will have a handmade element to them , never had the confidence to give something I made myself before. Am thinking some sort of foodie hamper as I rediscovered my cooking skills coming here and my family drool over my offerings ( usually leftovers)
I Will be lurking but expect to be very busy and little time to post, so any good cooking / preserving tips please continue to postWhen it rains look for RainbowsWhen its Dark look for Stars0 -

I was just about to reply to this, then heard a loud noise so went downstairs to find the rabbits on TOP of their cage...cue me picking them up & taking them off - one fine, the other....*struggle struggle struggle* & then a foot to my face :rotfl: How she managed that I do not know...
Anyway! Back on topic - I see your predicament now, even if you did find something you'd enjoy more the chances are you wouldn't be able to look after your DGD which leaves your DD to find alternative childcare.
What business do you want to start? Maybe he has a good reason for not being behind you on this one? Or is he just being overly cautious? To be fair, with the current economic climate it's not the best time to start up a business. Is it something you could do on the side? For example if you were wanting to make use of your corset making talents you could start on ebay & if it really took off you could start up your business properly?
Either way I hope things start looking up for you x:idea:Debt at July 2012: £12,862.57

Pernicious - we agree, we all decided at work how 'long' a week it had been, given that it was actually a short one
Ongoing saga of tryng to get S*ntander to sort out missing cheques, paid by them into somebody else's account before Christmas
Please don't believe anyone who says that a personal cheque made out to you cannot be paid into a totally unrelated account - they lie (and have accomplished this, apparently )
I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling it!
My OH used to work in a bank (absolutely hated it by the way!) He explained to me that cheques are simply a piece of paper that cashiers manually input onto the system, so plenty of room for human error. In theory when the cheque gets to head office & processed it should be flagged up that the name on the cheque is different to the account name & from there they send it back to the account holder. (This shocked me by the way!!!)
What you need to do is speak to the branch manager & not take no for an answer (but don't get aggressive!) just as long as you get vocal enough that it starts to become an embarrassment for the manager they will resolve it.
Their procedure is pretty slack imo:-- 2 working days from date of complaint - they have to respond in some way, even if it's just "We are investigating your complaint"
- 5 working days - they have to provide another response, but again it can be the same as above
- 4 weeks - as above...
- Another 4 weeks - After this point there must be a final resolution of the complaint, if you are not happy with how it has ended you can go to the financial ombudsman, or if they miss a response as outlined above.
