Have to say I didn't find it inspiring in any way, bit like my own garden at the mo - dreary.
Hope it shows more promise next week.
Actually, I thought the bits with the puppy chewing the boot and tarpauline were the most entertaining ! Dear little pup, wish I had one.

Have to agree, just some old lady pottering around in her garden. great she can (or we via the BBC) can afford to have a professional hedge layer come along and lay her hedge for her.
We wont be watching it again. The dog was great though.

I read in the Telegraph that Carol has had a double hip replacement, which surprised me. She is a superb gardener and presenter.

I enjoyed it as well, and for someone with a double hip replacement as theGrinch posted, she can certainly beat me up a ladder
    Numerus non sum
  • Poor love, I have spotted her arthritic hands but didn't know about her hip replacements. She always seems so cheery and nimble!

Back in the days when she was on Real Gardens on Channel 4, I was at Chelsea flower show perusing the National Trust stall, when I suddenly heard a familiar voice talking in the stall next door - lo and behold it was Carol.

I always think she comes across younger than her 65 years too!

i honestly thought at a few points whilst she was up that ladder she was gonna come a cropper good on her as i couldnt have gone up there, liked the way her husband looked really happy on camera holding the ladder for her lol

I found it a bit boring but will give it another go next week. I cant believe she doesnt wear gloves and doesnt seem to hurt her hands at all. What about the safety aspect of being up the tree tugging away at that clematis.

There was a programme on last year about growing foods to feed yourself throughout the whole year with a redheaded young lady which was more interesting. Anyone know what it was called and if its coming back on.

I often forget my gloves. I used to take really good care of my hands but have to say they've ben neglected a bit i the last year. I find big gloves make my clumsy and take away the ''feel'' and the gloves I decided a I do like are £40 a pair...so I'm not going to ruin them with heavy work lol.

I have a few pairs of cotton gloves and some other sorts but will quite often work barehanded.
