Help! Boiler reigniting

Please help someone! Basically its a really long story, but cut short we had a suspected gas leak in the house over a week ago and the national grid came out and shut off the gas. An engineer has come out and switched off the splinter valve supplying the fireplace infront of our back boiler. He said there was a small amount of gas passing through the system, but that it was safe for him to pass and switch back on.
The boiler is now has the flames underneath, but every 4 minutes exactly it reignites. After 2 minutes, the flames go out and 2 minutes later it reignites. We've only just got the heating and stove back on, but I'm worried something is wrong. Is this dangerous and how dangerous?
Also today after the gas was switched back on the ceiling wallpaper of one of the upstairs rooms has fallen down with a gush of water to make matters worse
. Does this sound like a burst pipe?
Please help someone!
Thank you!

Could be a leak.
The boiler sounds as if the pump is maybe not circulating the heated water properly, or maybe some other circulation problem.
From here, and with what you have posted, it doesn't sound like an actual gas related safety problem.0 -
If its been made safe by NG then it shouldnt be put back on unless its sound and not passing gas any more.If the appliance has been isolated due to a leak then you cant just put it back on if there is a small drop, even if its under 8/4mb.
like gas4you says we need more info about the fbbu but going on what you have given us it could be boiling over into the header tank?Plastic tanks can melt as ive seen it but its very rare .Can you hear the bbu boiling ?also is it gravity fed or fully pumped sytem?Lots of questions but hard to give you a definitive answer0
