1Year Female indoor cat Missing :(

My beautiful cat of 1years old on heat (not sprayed) ran out the house today when I went outside to check some bulder work on the exterior of the house.

When I went outside and looked up she must of ran out and as I entered not realised until I search the house upside down and couldnt find her.

Her borther was neutered so he never really shows a desire to go out as such but last few weeks she has shown signs but normally when she goes out to the front garden she would run back in.

This timehowever as I didnt see her, she may of even tried to come back in but with the door closed and 5-10mins without entry ventured off else where?

I am normally so careful with my 2 cats and I dont know what to do.
I have been out 5-6 times in the last 3 hours sicne the ran away.

I am thinking either she is hiding somewhere, taken by some one (as she is really really cute - small, white and ginger with greenish eyes) or ....

What can I do?

    Is she microchipped?
    Why isn't she neutered?
While in heat, of course she would try to run away...

Sorry, I know you must be very worried - hope she comes back soon and when she does, please take her to the vets as no doubt she is meeting another unneutered cat right now.....

She isn't microchipped (I know I am to blame for that) and didnt get her neuteured as her brother, Arnold, when we got him done he hasnt seemed the same as he was and he put allot of weight on.

Whats the chances of her returning as she has never been out of the house.

She is a year old, she may not have been out before but she will know where she lives.

There is another thread on here about a missing cat, that one came back this morning, please have a look there.

I know people suggest emptying the contents of your vacuum cleaner bag at the front and at the back of the house for the kitty to smell it and find home, also posters all over the place with her photo, calling all local vets etc etc.

Hope she comes back soon and you can take her to the vets ASAP so she does not have kittens as a result of this outing...

Hugs for you, you must be very worried....

My 4 are all due to be neutered end of january (2 boys and 2 girls) and will be microchipped then, although they are indoor only - you just never know, they may fancy jumping out of a low first floor window and going walkies.... cats are cats...
  • I used to shake the box of cat biscuits and call her to get mine in lol!! She used to hear it from 6 gardens away!!
I'm sure she will return but maybe in the family way unfortunately :(
    Hope shes back soon x

Thanks for all the replies every one.

I have seen the other thread but unlike her cat, my one has never even been in the back garden.
She has ran out around 4-5 times in the from garden but as soon as I turn she back in straight away.

This time I must of not noticed her and shes gone.

Shes a very playful, fragile and beautiful cat.

I wish I actually saw her run out so I know shes gone awol and not some 1 has picked her up ....

Years ago when my Eric was much younger, my neighbours were used to me standing at my back door at midnight shaking the cat biscuit box or tapping his bowl with his spoon to lure him home. I've even gone down to the end of the garden in my pj's and slippers with a torch looking for him (ooo err, disturbing frogs, hedgehogs and god knows what else ) . He always came back, meowing loudly at me as if it was my fault that he was hungry !

I'm sure she'll be back when she's hungry and tired. In the meantime I do feel for you, it's such a worry when our little pets go awol.

Let us know when she comes home.

Do check any sheds or garages and ask everyone locally to check theirs too.
It's possible someone's taken her in as the night is cold, but if she's out she will be able to recognise landmarks even if she's not been out of that door before. Animals are amazing - one of our rabbits went round the outside of a block of houses and got himself back in his hutch, although he'd never been taken that route.
If you or neighbours have a car parked nearby, check underneath, and under the bonnet - cats go for warm places.
As someone has already said, ring vets, RSPCA, Blue Cross and even ask at the Police station.
    I hope she's back soon.

Just a thought - when you make the posters... put an info there that she is on medication.

If anyone took her in and perhaps wanted to actually keep her (as this happens too) they may think twice about keeping a cat that is not well and may require expensive vet treatment.

I know she is not unwell, just a thought....to prevent cat napping ;)

If she isn't neutered be prepared for kittens :O

It might just be her hormones that are driving her out on a rampage... Hopefully she will be back with you soon.

Just woke up to look for her again.

I left a food bowl with some food outside the front door.
When I checked on it now, most of the food had been eaten...
I would of thought most likely by a fox or then another cat.

    No signs of her still....

What I worry most is that she aint really a peoples person as such.
The only person she comes to hold, which is mainly at night is me. With every one else she doesn't like getting picked up by and when she is happy will allow to be stroked.

Generally she is very reserved, fragile but full of energy/life.
What I am worried about is food as at home she hardly eats and I normally hand feed her every few hours as she eats a minimum portion of dry food at one given time.

Just because of her nature at home, I just cannot see her returning...:(
