For new cars try this Car Chooser and you can stick in what you want like budget/number of seats and it shows you what new cars match that.
Doesn't have used cars though I don't think in it.
You thinking you might want a hatchback, saloon, coupe? 4 proper seats or occasional back seats?0 -

Depends on the offset against the depreciation in the same car had he bought it himself. The first company car I had back in 1998 was a brand spanking new BMW 328i Coupe. Drank petrol and was not the best choice I had ever made for a company car, but I loved it. Great fun. Had I bought the car new myself, I would have lost a small fortune in depreciation over the 3 years the company had the car.0 -

Company car (and fuel) rules were somewhat more generous for employees back in 1998 though! I had a Golf VR6 as my first one (also loved that!) but went down the engine size after that as rules changed!0 -
If you can buy second hand and are looking for something a bit special Jaguar have just stopped producing the X-type range and were dumping all the demonstrators.
I bought a 7month old 7k miles sovreign 2.2 diesel estate ex demonstrator for the sort of money you mentioned. List price was about 30k.
fabulous car0 -
Not a good choice for a company car if the list price is 30 grand! o_O0

Check out the CO2 emissions and tax from April 2012. Big increase for some cars.
Audi A3 and VW Golf both do boring 99 CO2 emissions cars which will be dirt cheap from a tax point of view (but a bit sluggish when you hit the outside lane).
Personally I'd go for a Focus in that range. Or a BMW 3 series if you can get them up to £24k+.0 -
Get an Auris Hybrid, 89g CO2, seats 5 comfortably, gets up to 74mpg... And its a toyota, bomb proof!0
-
Get something for under £10k and ask for an £8k raise.
