Sky plus remote replacement

I need a sky plus remote replacement as mine has gone missing. We have a newer sky plus box in another room and I have tried the remote from there on the older box but it won't work?

I know I can get a Sky plus remote control from Asda,Tesco, Amazon etc but how do I make sure it will work with a older Sky plus box?

There are only 3 remotes.

Sky
Sky +
Sky + HD

My remote for my Sky HD box stopped working,quick phonecall to Sky & I had a new one free within a few days.

Were you in your 12 month warranty period on the box?

Ok thanks all the new one must be a HD remote! Its made it a whole lot clearer

Yes,but I've known them to send them out to customers out of warrenty.

Any Sky remote later than version 4 (see label inside battery cover) can be reprogrammed to operate any type of Sky (standard, Sky+ or Sky+HD) as per my posts on another forum, see here

Many thanks for that! On reading your post I went & retrieved the broken remote from behind the TV intending to try your instructions,bunged some batteries in it & it works now!!
I guess leaving it unpowered for a few month's reset it or something!!:T

Maybe thats why the instructions on the remote say 'replace batteries within 10mins of removing old ones' (or words to that effect.

DUH...Having worked for NTL/VM & Sky since 1998,it's one of the first thing's I checked,considering nothing worked on the remote,not even the red light,it was definatly bolluxed!
I even left the new batteries in the thing until I got my new one to see if it would work,which it didn't.
