Plusnet how long does the 5gb for £5 excess last

Maybe you should have a chat with your kids and remind them to keep an eye on what they are doing until you are on the new product? If they are playing games online, or listening to music, maybe they can cut down or find an alternative for a while?0

I will, tyllwyd, tonight - the younger one at least, who uses so much more. It isn't games but films and music, and her bizarre way of revising for exams is to have one eye on the computer! Having been someone who could only concentrate when sitting at a desk in a library, this is just weird to me, but it's stood her in good stead throughout GCSEs and A levels so I don't want to rock the boat too much because it will make her miserable. Obviously I'll explain the situation and ask her to try to watch DVDs etc instead as much as she can. If it were the older one causing the problem she would be willing to contribute financially, but this young lady's a student and I don't want to add to her expenses (not that I can afford it any better than she can, except that I'm not running up an actual debt at least).Life is mainly froth and bubble

Hi Snowleopard61,
I've had a word and the product has been changed for you, probably for the best given the extra usage that was on there (15GB), the time left in the month (2 weeks) and the fact that you (or your family) is using at least 1GB a day.
I'd definitely recommend having a word with them and checking what they are doing as that's not an insignificant amount of data, and even with 60GB you may find you hit the limit by the end of the month.
I hope you don't mind but I've taken the liberty of setting the data transfer watch on your account to £0.00. This means that there won't be any extra usage added on to your account, instead you'll find the service is slowed down until the next billing date. If you want to change this you can do so here: https://portal.plus.net/data_transfer_watch/
Shouldn't be an issue this month as you've now nearly the full 60GB to last you the rest of the month.
Hope that sorts things out for you and alleviates a headache or two
Regards,
Matt Taylor

Matt, thank you so much - that's fantastic. I have talked to my younger daughter, who's the one causing the issues, and told her she needs to watch DVDs/TV and listen to her iPod more of the time when she wants something alongside her revision. The slow speed may actually facilitate this too
.
Because she is away much of the time, I don't think this issue will arise often - usually even when she is home it would be for only part of a billing period - although, assuming she comes home for the summer, she is going to have to be a lot more careful then. It's particularly bad at the moment because she is indoors revising (in her own peculiar way) nearly all the time.
Thanks again :TLife is mainly froth and bubble

If the daughter who is at home from uni is getting through so much bandwidth, it makes me wonder what she does when she is at uni? Who is paying for her internet there? She might need a wake up call now, or else she (ie you!) might be hit with a huge bill at some point in the future ...0

Yes, this has occurred to me in the last 24 hours too. In answer to the question, she is in a privately rented house administered by the university, and internet usage is included. I had always assumed that there was a tariff which had no top usage limit at all (and as there are five students in the house they would have it) but perhaps this doesn't exist. I will warn her ... adding that, as I have always said, if she is financially imprudent in any way I CANNOT, really CANNOT, bail her out and the debt will be hers to pay off.Life is mainly froth and bubble

If the internet connection is with BE then there are no limits, other than the speed of your connection.0

Useful to know - I hope that's what they've got then!
