I'll take bets on how many lines into the article the phrase 'having it all' or 'superwomen' makes an appearance.0

I do generally enjoy Mail-baiting, but this week I read an article about a report that 38% of women marry men who earn more money than them. Cue hundreds of comments that women are all golddiggers and feminists have ruined the country! No-one seems to have noticed that 38% is a minority.
so does that mean 62% of men marry women who earn more of a much as them? seems it might be men that could be accused of golddigging? Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0 -
I've been the sole wage earner in our family ever since we married, but I'd rather have pins stuck in my eyes than appear in the Daily Heil."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

I'm a female breadwinner and proud of it, but I wouldn't trust the Daily Mail to accurately represent that - it's a shame that so many people on this thread feel as though their stories would be twisted by what is, after all, a very popular newspaper. I just can't shake the feeling that instead of an empowering article about how women are more than capable of supporting their families, it would come across as feeble-minded females unable to see that their husbands are taking advantage of them.
I also have a slight problem with the way this is being portrayed - I am 30, and as far as I am concerned 'traditional' roles (throughout my lifetime) have been that both partners work. How long are the media going to portray working women as an anomaly rather than accepting that history shows women providing for their families for hundreds of years? Why is there any need to 'accept' female breadwinners? Who is supposed to be doing this 'acceptance' and why should anyone have to justify themselves to anyone narrow minded enough to require an explanation? If I thought that I would be allowed to make any of these points (or rather, than any of these opinions would be accurately represented) then I might be more interested.0 -

I was a housewife for 7 years and am recently the main breadwinner, while my husband looks after our toddler. It's been an interesting and rewarding journey both as a housewife and starting off a new career, seeing my husband blossom in his new role.
But the mail is the most immoral publication in our country so no thank you. Both because I don't want to be part of anything they do and because I don't trust them not to twist my story to suit their agenda.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -

I wonder if they've ever incentivised male interviews with offers of make-overs?May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
At various times in our marriage the main earner has changes due to circumstances.
When OH had a promotion, but stopped shift work his income actually went down. This coincided with my promotion and I have have to admit to a few strained moments.
However, I would have to be insane to discuss this with a 'pious' rag like the DM.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

I'm the main breadwinner in our family but I'd be scared of attracting unwelcome attraction from gold-digging men once they see me in the paper0
