Virgin Media cancellation advice

Hi all
My query concerns trying to cancel my Virgin Media bundle 2 months into a 12 month contract because my flat flooded due to a burst pipe from upstairs flat.
The living room roof collapsed and landlord got a health and safety inspector to have a look at it.
Following this, the landlord confirmed it wasn't safe to live there so i had to move out. I am now living somewhere which already has a ISP subscription so unable to transfer contract to new premises.
Would anyone know if it is possible to cancel my subscription because of the health and safety report deeming the flat unsafe, without paying the disconnection fee (£168) ??
p.s. I have seen in the terms and conditions (clause L 1a) that if there is any legal action taken against the property then it is possible to cancel the contract.
If anyone has had any similar problem, any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Sean.

I think the best thing to do would be phone them and explain what has happened.
Even if it's not officially in their terms they might let you suspend your service until you can move back in and then carry on with your remaining 10 months.0 -
Wouldn't insurance cover this if Virgin Media play hardball anyway?0

Can anyone out there advise me on this one. My daughter has been paying £4.00 to Virgin Media monthly for quite a while. She has often wondered why as she has Sky. She tried ringing them a couple of times but couldn't get through and as it was a small amount she just left it. However, about three months ago she thought that she would cancel the direct debit. She then got letters from Virgin saying that she owed them money. Today she rang them and got through. She was told that she had signed up in June 2003, now she can't remember signing for anything then as she was already on Sky, and that was the date her divorce was finalised and she took over her ex husbands debts. So she asked them if it was his debt and they said no. They kept asking why she hadn't phoned before and as she said a woman on her own just doesn't query a small amount, if it had been £40 she would have queried it before. All they said was they couldn't understand why she hadn't queried it before. Anyway she asked for the 'contract' to be ended and they wouldn't do that until she had paid the £16 that she owed them!!!! Now this is over £170 she has paid for 'services' which she hasn't received and had to pay for the privelige of ending a contract that wasn't for anything!!!! Surely this is wrong???? Can anyone help us?0

You should have started your own topic rather than reply to somebody else's.
I would agree with Virgin Media when they say why hasn't she queried it before. They must be able to tell you what the £4 per month is for. Is it a debt repayment? What is the total amount owing? Any contract that she signed back in 2003 would have ended by now so she wouldn't be charged a fee to end any contract now. As far as I can tell VM don't even supply a service for £4 per month.
I suspect she has a debt from back in 2003 and VM have been accepting small monthly payments. But the company has been renamed and changed owners a few times since 2003 and it's possible they could have lost some records.0
