Charity advice please
Options
Hi everyone this is my 1st ever post so hello to you all.
I just wanted some advice really as I'm suspicious of a recently set up charity and was wondering something and can't seem to find the details of what I was looking for on the comissions website.
If anyone can help this would really be appreciated.
When a charity sets up and there are executive members who refused to be named is there a certain law which enables them to do this? If not how can someone find out who the executive members are i.e chairperson, treasurer and everyone involved but not including the trustees they have named.
I have written to the charity itself and they have said they dont need to reveal their identities if they dont wish to and also quoted that the data protection act protects this.
I was just wondering if this is the case or if I'm getting fobbed off?
Any advice greatly recieved - I dont want to know their addresses , details etc just who the board members are they all got really defensive and told me the above. I thought charities needed to be transparent and its not anything involving victims of crimes or vulnerable women just a local animal charity which seems odd
