Wow thats amazing!!
Definately need to take a few hours and stick some bits on ebay. And then go from there.....
Keep the ideas coming please!:)0 -
I'm having a lesbian wedding, and haven't managed to find any good general information/active blogs etc on it...so I'm thinking of setting on up myself with the help of an IT savvy friend.
I've already started a blog and set it up with Google AdSense, but we'll see how that goes. Tbh I'm happy just to have somewhere to vent my bridezilla tendancies.
I'm going to sell everything I can on eBay. I've found Karen Millen dresses I haven't worn in over a year, phones, an iPod we never use and we have a spare laptop we were give free so I'm going to go eBay mad. If nothing it's worth it for the extra space. I'm panicking about where the centerpieces, buttonholes, shoes, BM dresses and everything will go as we get them!0 -
I'm doing all sorts to gather pennies for our wedding. I think the most important thing we did was to decide who was paying for what and what we wanted and didn't want at the outset. He's paying for his suit, I'm paying for my dress and everything else comes out of the "fund".
* I work on a casual basis behind the bar and waitressing at my reception venue. I noticed when I had a look round that they were advertising for staff
The good thing is I know what to expect as far as food and decorations go and the couple who run the venue are lovely. A couple of short shifts a month is £50 towards my wedding and while I'm working there, I'm not out spending!
* I liberate my OH's change. He's a pain for leaving piles of money around the house so I've started taking anything less than 20p pieces and putting them into a savings jar to pay in every month. He knows I'm doing it and has helpfully started leaving all his change in one place for me to steal
I usually manage to gather about a tenner's worth a month.
* On the same basis, any money left in my "spends" current account every month gets added to the wedding fund. Usually around £20.
* Selling stuff. I've managed to recycle an old mobile phone and (touch wood) if the cheque comes through, it should go a long way towards paying for my dress.
I'm in the same boat as many in looking to move out and get married at the same time so any spare money is being split. Not doing too badly though

I started doing Avon just before Christmas, i'd say around october time and made around £500 in commission. It wasn't easy around a full time job, but if you're organised and can get your head around it then the pay back is good. A couple of weeks ago, we bought our wedding rings with the money, beat the VAT increase!
I'm trying to buy as much as possible as we go along, spread the cost. (It doesn't seem as much that way, once it's spent!!) We're not getting married until next June, but i already have everything like table decorations, bidesmaids gifts, cake topper etc.
Avon, is what you make it, the wedding definatly drives me to do it. It wasn't and isn't fun delivering in snow/rain and trying to collect in books when people don't leave them out side, it can be stressful, and i know i'm not going to get sales like i did over christmas, but by keeping it ticking over i'm still making £20/£30 every few weeks. I've still got the summer (sun tan lotions!) and next Christmas. If i could pay for the cake then that would be the icing on the cake!! :rotfl:Don't let your fears stand in the way of your dreams. :A0 -
Avon may be worth considering..... not only for the commission on your sales but, as a rep, you get your own toiletries, make-up, perfumes, gifts, etc. at discounted rates and via 'creative ordering'
you can get free products too. (As a rep you also get to try any/all products you fancy for free too! :j )
If you'd like to know more, PM me.
Either way, good luck and congrats on your forthcoming wedding.Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon

I've been doing a bit of freelance work over the past year & have stuck each payment into my ISA (although some of it will have to go back to the taxman).
I have a cashback offer on my phone contract, so every 3 months I get a cheque for £100, which again goes into my ISA.
Also, I got a pay rise last march, which equated to an extra ~£200 a month, so I set up a standing order to transfer £200 into my ISA each month. It meant I could still live within my means but get some extra savings. That stopped when we bought a house in September, but I'm getting another payrise in Feb, which'll be about an extra £100 a month, so I'll do the same again.0 -

Have an important day tomorrow at work, but after that can get my head down and sort myself out.
