Could the boys be Elfs like Ben from Ben and Hollys little kingdom.
You could make them little cone hats with a feather maybe. For thousands of people this Christmas, their must-have gift is far more vital than the latest gadget or toy – it’s blood. Please don’t let the festivities and cold weather prevent you from giving them the ultimate gift… give blood.0 -

Good plan lilmissI'm looking for comething cheap as this year I MUST keep costs down (I can get very carried away!!) adn this wouldn't cost much at all :T
We're having a cupcake bar too - I've been saving pretty jars which I have designed lables for to put all the toppings in and I'll be making everything myself.
Friend who is a face painter is coming to paint the kids faces and put pixie tatoos on the boys... also doing balloon modelling - flowers for the girls and swords for the boys._____________________________________________party_ Handmade Christmas and Occassions 2011 _party_OS Moneysaving as much as I canGonna live 'The Good Life' - grow my own and 4 hens

circus is a good theme, I held a circus party when my girls were small, They all dressed up (the babies came in pyjamas, dyed with teabags, decorated as animals eg lion cubs!) The older ones were clowns, trapeze artistses etc I was the ring master!
We had hotdogs and hamburgers for food with the usual finger type foods renamed eg mini picnic eggs were cannon balls.
Instead of goody bags we made popcorn and wrapped it in those clear plastic ziplock freezer bags and bought some candy floss which we put in bags also. The children collected these from a stand at the end (a decorated paste table)
Had a circus parade at the start and played the usual games with a twist eg pin the nose on the clown (I made a poster but you could use pom poms and sellotape and have an adult helper sitting on a chair for the children to stick them on!) and a bucket of shredded paper was a lucky dip .
There are variations of the traditional theme mind you for example if the birthday boy or girl like something special like pirates it could be adapted to
pin the spade on the treasure map, nearest to the X wins,
musical chairs could be musical cannon balls (using paper plates instead of chairs!)
you get the idea themes can change to suit the child eg
fairies - musical toadstools and pin the wings on the fairy
circus - musical clowns noses! (red plates!!) and pin the nose on the clown
cowboys and indians - musical saddles Cut out out of card and pin the badge on the sheriff
princess - musical crowns (Cut out of card again) and pin the tiara on the princes or the diamond on the tiarra!
if weather fine it could be outdoors like an old fashioned street party, with flags and a wartime theme make the boys wear shorts.
Food is just the old childhood faves sandwiches, sausage rolls, cake, jelly and ice cream etc but change the name to suit the theme eg fairy rings (cut sarnies into rounds with a biscuit cutter!) or teepees (triangles) let your imagination run wild instead of your purse.

I am doing a Rugby themed party for my son in February. Thankfully his teams colours are black and white which is easy enough to sort (got the official team party banners and invitations, black party boxes, black plates white napkins etc). My problem is games! I dont have a large garden for playing rugby and wondered if anyone had any ideas that could be adapted to suit. I have tried google but so far come up with diddly squat. Thanks in advance0

my daughter is 3 at the end of the month
i've got her a bouncy castle for her present which we'll put up indoors, she also has a small trampoline & loads of megablocks/duplo
i intend to get some more chunky wax crayons & print some pics off the internet, also just plain paper to colour on
food will just be jam sandwiches, mini sausage rolls, crisps, grapes, strawberries, jelly & cake of course
there won't be many kids there her + 3 at the moment but nursery may come up with more names when i ask them! thought i do it from 11 - 12.30 & invite the parents to stay (do tea, coffee & biscuits)
just not sure if i should have a theme or is that would be too much?
what do you reckon?

DD wantsba Dora the explorer party for her 3rd this year.
After a lot of Internet searching I have come up with this - does it sound ok? Any other ideas?
Kids arrive and do colouring while waiting for others to arrive. Also pin the tail on swiper
Do musical stars game ( large star cut outs to stand on)
Do a find boots game as have bought a large boots cuddly toy off eBay
Then go to do pass the parcel but "oh no, swiped has taken the parcels"
Hand out pack backs containing maps, binoculars/ telescopes , whistles and glow sticks
Go to first place on map- crocodile lake (paddling pool filled with balls). Have stuffed crocodiles/ snakes etc on string. Kids have to blow whistle to scare snakes away(other adults to pull string)
They then have to find a star each in the pool
Next go to gloomy tunnel where they will need their glow sticks to help them crawl through and find a star
Next to the forest (lots of green streamers etc with stars on string) tom collect more stars
Finally bubble clearing where they have to pop as many bubbles as they can
Then use telescopes to find swiped and the presents
Playnpass the parcel (using coloured bags purple for the girls parcel and orange for the boys with faces on to look like the backpacks the boys layers will contain compass bracelets and the girls will have bracelets like doras
Then food time- tortilla chips with dips, mini hotdogs and corn on cobs and normal party food (would love to tacos but not too sure many of the kids will gomfor it plus messy at that age, will do tortilla chips and dips for adults)
Dora cake and I have happy birthday sang by Dora too
Then fiesta dance time with tonnes of balloons and lots of Dora music. And a piñata filled with magic stars0 -
Hello - have any of you done a bear making party? I was planning to do it myself rather than hire party person to do it (to keep costs down). I have found 2 companies on the Internet - Blackberrie bears and Be my bear. Do any of you have any experience of either of these as not sure which one to go for?
Thanks
PS love the sound of the Dora party - mt DDs a bit old for Dora now but it sounds great!0 -

Entertainment ideas: you can get a dvd for them to watch for part of the evening. Bit lame, I know, but it keeps them quiet for an hour or so! Sometimes the kids will entertain themselves (if your lucky!)0 -
Thanks OP, this is a really nice thread. My DS will be having his 1st birthday in May and am looking for ideas for his party. Also looking for a venue for about 30-40 people including children in the London area. So if anyone happen to see any reasonably priced place while browsing around please let me know thanks.
It seems like soft play is a good start for 1st birthdays so am also considering that! Lots of good ideas on here too, again am loving this thread.:TOne of my friends on facebook was doing a Nursery Rhyme themed party for her daughter last year - all children had to dress up as a nursery rhyme character and all the food was relating to nursery rhymes:
Jam Tarts (Queen of hearts)
Bread and honey sandwiches
Curds & Way (you could use icecream!)
I can't remember the other food things right now, and can't find the list she made, but you get the idea!!

A nursery rhyme themed party sounds really good especially since my lo enjoys them so much! His favourites are: Humpty Dumpty, Twinkle little star, Baa Baa black sheep and This little piggy. You are 48% tight
