Hi, is it possible to retreive a lost Xbox login/account?
A friends son ungraded his old xbox at game, but when his went to login on his new one, he has managed to forget his login name and password. any ideas what to do. thx

he will need to know his email address as thats what you log in with

He will also need the credit card used for the original account.

MS can help but you need to know the full information about the previous account.
Once you can confirm an identity then they are very helpful in retrieving old accounts.

He mgiht be better of calling microsoft and sort it that way, the number is on xbox.com under support

Start Xbox and get to bit where you can retrieve account. Enter email address and password used for Live account. It'll show a list of gamer tags associated with that email address. No need for credit cards.

Try the forgotten password link at live.com.

The username will probably be the email address he signed up with or his xbox live username.

He doesn't know his email? Has he ever sent an email to anyone from that account?

I found this reply from MS on their support forum:

If you've forgotten your account name, we can only suggest that you contact someone whom you sent an e-mail to and ask if that person knows your e-mail address.

If you have a Windows Live or MSN subscription service, there might be a way to locate your e-mail address. Our subscription service has a telephone support option that you will need to call. This telephone number can be found on your credit card bill where we charged you for the service.

Did they pay for Xbox Live gold on a credit card? This could be the only way to identify the owner. I'd try calling xbox support on 020 7365 9792 or 0800 587 1102 again.

Hi, thx again for the help.

i don't think they signed up using a cc, and i'm not sure about the login (email) as you would think he or his mum would remember it.... is it possible he has changed it after the inital set-up?
