Selling faulty Hero on Ebay

In a couple of months time I will be flogging my Orange HTC Hero on ebay. I will have to describe it as being faulty since the touchscreen is intermittantly non responsive in some areas. I have gathered that this is a common issue with the Hero(or maybe even HTC phones in general) but it means having to rehit certain keys with the flesh of you finger a few times instead of just the tip. Also if laid flat on a table the screen does not work at all even though it returns to normal if held flat in your hand.
For these reasons I am not expecting to get much for it. I need to know if after a hard reset to default and the removal of the sim, are there other precautions I should be taking, i.e will the hard reset get rid of all my personal data and settings?
