Feedback shirkers

I sometimes mention in my listing or an email advising the buyer when the item was posted if they can leave feedback to confirm they have received the item alright. It still sometimes doesn't happen but it's not worth hassling them about it. Eventually you'll build up a bigger feedback score eitherway and I'd rather have it that way than someone saying something negative if I was chasing them for it

As others have said, do not email asking for feedback. A little note on the packing slip or confirmation of dispatch email is fine.

Remember that a lot of buyers dislike sellers who refuse to leave feedback first believing that it will prevent them issuing a negative to a rogue seller without an inevitable retaliatory.

We've been through that time and time again, but the fact remains that some buyers do feel that way (I did at one time and never left feedback for my second purchase as the seller waited two weeks to send the item and then emailed me asking for feedback before he would leave any).

Can you send an automatic confirmation of dispatch email? I've been looking for this on eBay and have not found it yet so I've just been emailing them from my email account. I'd like to be able to click on "Mark Dispatched" and fire off a customised eBay email with a request for confirmation of reciept. Nice and official, like.

Asking for feedback on eBay is a bit like asking for thanks on here. It normally has just the opposite effect!
    Can I help?

if you download ebay selling manager that has the option to click a 'mark as dispatched' button
  • When I sell I leave feedback once the buyer pays saying "Payment Received Promptly" or something like that as I see that as their end of the deal.

If I buy i leave feedback once I receive and check the goods.

    No probs so far thankfully.

This has just reminded me I forgot to leave feedback for something I bought as I mainly sell things now, and 'Items I've won' is right at the bottom of my summary. Just left positive now :D

i usually leave fb on reciept of goods and im happy with them as thats when i feel the transaction is complete (not when ive paid) just my opinion :)

as a seller when my buyer has recieved goods is happy and left fb then i do - becuase if i leave fb and they are disatisfied they are more likely to neg me then complain rather than sort the situation out - which i would always do

also as a seller i have found it makes no difference in the response rate leaving fb first as i used to do this and have pretty much the same response rate as i do now

i never leave fb for people that chase me for fb - sometimes i dont leave fb if i feel dissapointed with the item and dont feel i can persue it with the seller and its not worth a neg or neutral on my account
 Democracy is a process by which the people are free to choose the man who will get the blame.:j
  • If I am buying I leave feedback when I have received the item and am happy with it. Some sellers have left me feedback as soon as Ive paid for their item, others wait until you have left them feedback, so they know you have received their item and there is no problem. It makes no odds to me what they do really.
When I am selling I never leave feedback until the buyer has left me some, (or if they have maybe e-mailed to say they have received the item and are pleased with it) because you never know if they have received it and are happy with it or not. What to you might be a 100% fantastic item others might think is not what they want. There are some odd ebayers out there!

I have had a couple of buyers who didnt leave me any feedback, so I didnt leave them any either. I felt a bit ashamed of myself to be honest after all its rather pathetic, but I just couldnt bring myself too!

I must admit I get a bit peeved when someone e-mails and asks for feedback or puts in a note asking for feedback. If Ive bought something I always leave feedback anyway. I can undestand it and dont blame them even, but for some reason it annoys me and its something I wouldnt do myself.

I try to leave FB when I get the item, but sometimes you just forget for a few days.

I also leave fb for quick payments as I dont see why my leaving feedback should depend on the buyer leaving me fb. Supposed to be a genuine fb for genuine service, not I'll will if you do.
