Feedback shirkers

This is a follow up to a recent thread on Feedback. After, a couple of people forgot to leave feedback for me, even after a gentle nudge, I have stopped leaving feedback on payment and waited until they have left theirs. I now send a nicely worded email (thanks Frivolous Fay and others) asking for them to confirm reciept by leaving feedback or emailing. So far one of my buyers has done so. The other has not. Should I leave some feedback pointing out their oversight or just wait? What strategies do others use?

Remember that feedback is VOLUNTARY, and no-one HAS to leave it

It's just polite
If you go pestering or hinting for feedback, chances are, you'll get some of the wrong kind!My TV is broken!

No one has to leave feedback and you should never ask for it. I understand where you're coming from but I would only send an email asking them to confirm they have received the item and they are happy with their purchase, it is then up to them to leave feedback.
If someone email me asking for feedback I would NOT leave any.0 -
Would you wait until a seller left feedback before leaving your own or expect them to leave it on payment? Just to clarify, both of my emails were sent out to confirm shipping of the item giving them the choice of confirming receipt through and email or by leaving feedback. Judging from this board buyers and sellers have different practices and expectations.0

If they opt not to leave you a feedback then you should behave neutrally and do exactely the same. As the others said feedback is completely voluntary (for both parties) and there is no overriding need to leave one apart from being nice.Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0

If they don't bother to confirm receipt or leave me feedback, they get no feedback from me.
When I buy, I leave feedback first. I know there are some buyers who are outraged that sellers expect this.My TV is broken!

I'm still waiting for around 40 feedback, so dont worry about it so much, alot of them dont bother leaving any. My rating is high enough for me to not really care if they leave one or not.0

As a buyer I leave feedback if I'm happy, if not I contact the seller and see if they can resolve the issue.
As a seller I will not leave feedback until I have had communication from the buyer in the form of positive feedback or if they are not satisfied I will resolve as best as I can. I would not expect any seller to leave feedback as soon as I have paid for the item. I prefer to be a bit more cautious than some although I personally have never had any problems.
No feedback for me from a buyer means they get no feedback from me as a seller!"Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!

Thanks for the responses. I don't think I would have minded getting no feedback if people had emailed me to confirm the reciept but when you don't hear at all you wonder if they got it, if they are not happy, if you've annoyed them in any way... I'm also recently new to eBay and still learning the etiquet - and building up my rating! I guess there are two schools of thought on this topic. I will probably continue to wait for buyers to leave feedback before doing so myself, though I'm sure I'll end up with lots of glaring reminders in my eBay which I will have to ignore!0

I leave feedback on receipt of goods once I know they are as described, I have only sold one thing and the guy collected it yesterday and left good feedback when he got home about 2 hours later. I left feedback for my buyer once I had the money in my hands.0

Pack, add a note asking them to leave feedabck, pop it in the post and forget it.
Anything else is a waste of time.
Buyer might feel pressurised if you chase feedback and you might not get what you think you deserve.
And if there is a problem they will be in touch soon enough.
You will soon learn it is just not worth the hassle.0
