I gave her a possible cause of her dilemma. I did not give any electical advice as to the type of fitting or otherwise. You're now becoming a rude irritant.
Bulbs is this now a gardening thread? :rotfl:0 -

I would suggest that the OP re-post their question and hope to get some useful replies. Very sad.0

Gosh you made me laugh - just what I needed! :j
Will have to get hubby to have a look at one of the light fittings as we didn't install them - just inherited them with the damp mausoleum. He did take one of the bulbs out and noticed that a bit of the 'ceramic' inside it was broken off. Could this have any effect?
Cheers for the responses so far!!I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent. :rotfl:0 -
ok.....at the risk of being called a smart a$$ by some for taking a guess........
Clues - loud click, followed by dark period, then lights come back on. also broken ceramic.
Both the above clues sounds to me like overheating. The loud click could be the transformer safety cut out kicking in and killing the lights....it then cools down and lights come back on. Also the broken ceramic could indicate higher temperature and making it brittle.
are the bulbs the correct wattage?
does the transformer have adequate ventilation and cooling space?
Info is limited so any advice will be a bit of guesswork.

We are getting a fan fitted shortly so while the floorboards upstairs are up we can have a thorough look at the set up for the lights. It sounds like the transformer from what you say. Cheers for the response.I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent. :rotfl:0
