More lighting problems!

We have 3 halogen 12v downlighters in the bathroom. Two bulbs went so we replaced them. Now you can be lying in the bath and you will hear a loud click and all three of them go off. So you drip and swear your way to the consumer box to find that the circuit has not been triggered. Drip drip back upstairs and the lights come back on. No its not the kids playing funny bu**ers! So what could the problem be, and how can I find out if the lights are rated for bathroom use? (the bulbs we bought were). When the two bulbs originally went there was the loud click but one of them stayed on.
I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent. :rotfl:

I think you may have installed the wrong rating of lamps, 12v 20watt should be fitted.0

how do you know ?
she hasnt said what size a transformer she has yet.0 -
Cos i'm a smart a$$
She said ' you will hear a loud click and all three of them go off ' It's only happened since the OP replaced the lamps, so I reckoned it could be one overloaded tranny that's tripping.0 -
and how would her tranny would be overloaded when she hasnt said how big it is?
could be a 3kW toroidal, perhaps unlikely, but not all trannies are 60vA.0 -

I think you should wait until the op posts back.
Are the lights on separate transformers or are all the lights run from one transformer?0 -

I do agree with that,
but you shouldnt be dishing out electrical advice wily-nily without a bit more info,
esp not for somewhere like a bathroom.0 -

The OP asked a simple question about bulbs!
I gave her a possible cause of her dilemma. I did not give any electical advice as to the type of fitting or otherwise. You're now becoming a rude irritant.0 -
