Is Halfords liable?

Some months ago, I got both of my headlight bulbs replaced and fitted by Halfords. I don't have any receipts now but I paid by card and I may be able to source the statement though I'm not holding my breath.

Just recently, my headlights have started buzzing, quite loudly and on further inspection, it appears that the plastic covering the electrics (and the bulb) behind the headlight wasn't attached on both sides... leaving the electrics exposed so it's clear Halfords never correctly fitted the plastic cover after replacing the bulb as the cover can't just fall off.

So tomorrow, I'm now going to have to go to the garage and have them sort it, and possibly replace the motor which adjusts my headlights.

Halfords is responsible but what chances have I got getting them to pay my garage bill?

Ummm.... Why can't you just refit the cover yourself?

Buzzing is probably the headlamp level adjustment motor, try lowering/raising them using the control/switch.

It's proving much difficult, and as I mention, there is a buzzing sound which is coming from the motor that adjusts the headlights. With the area being damp, no doubt water has gotten in to the motor.

The area is very small and my hands are somewhat large. :(

Not from the glove box or down the back seat?

How can you posibly say Halfords are definitely to blame, given the time lapsed?

Plastic covers do work loose from time to time, especially if you've hit potholes etc given the current adverse weather!

No it's definitely coming from the area where the bulb is seated.

I cannot see how you can hold them liable for something they did in sept/oct time?

It would be impossible for the plastic cover to come loose on its own by its design. It would need to be unclamped from both sides and maneuvered a specific way for it to release from the headlight casing. I'd personally worry if any car did this on its own accord especially with the electrics under that cover..

Considering both covers aren't attached and Halfords was the last one near that very area tells me they are to blame.
