I don't have any advice on renting a pump (sorry), but can you have a nurse in? Where you spend a day or two curled up with your baby and nurse nurse nurse, you might find an increase in your supply.
If this is possible, make sure you have plenty of fluids and snacks for yourself nearby.
Also, have a go at making these cookies, they are really really good and full of galactagogues:

And check out kellymom.com as well5:2 diet devotee, frugal recipe creator, pretty excellent cook, pretty terrible housewife.0 -
Thank you for all your replies. I have found a pump to rent who I am going to ring tomorrow to let them know if I do want to rent it.
I have read the thread on upping my suppy so thank you for that. I cant have a nurse in as I have a 2 1/2 year old aswell.. though tomorrow I will be staying in apart from getting them both weighed at the clinic. So will just keep nursing and nursing as much as I can.* Mummy to my 2 gorgeous and amazing boys *0 -
For the constipation, I second the cooled boiled water! Took one hour to work on my DS, and he only drank about 1/2 an ounce!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
I found the info on Kellymom really helpful when I restarted bf, it sounds like you are doing the right thing with the expressing, the double electric pump really helped me. If it helps to know this - I bought an Ameda Lactaline for about £90 but sold it as buy it now for £45 on ebay the same day I listed it so they have a good resale value.0

Otherwise, you need to bear in mind that there is a timelag between demand and supply increase.
Perhaps you are also stressed now, so not letting down? Sounds silly, but try shrugging your shoulders as baby latches on.
And if the pump isn't much use, sometimes an OH can be pressganged into assistance.
(Keep the cabbage leaves in the fridge ready for when it all works and you wake up with the engorged feeling again!)I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Just thought I would update.. I managed to find a double pump to rent for free. Which was lovely. Pumped day and night every 2-3 hours aswell as feeding if I could get him to latch on. My supply is refusing to co-operate and baby will now not latch at all
I have had to admit defeat and give in to formula.
I tried so hard to pump and pump and maybe your right, maybe it was stress that ruined it for me. But too late now. I havent got any fight left in me for another week of no sleep and pumping and worrying and having him screaming constantly.
I guess I have done well in the 4+ months he has been breastfed. Its just a shame it didnt work out how I wanted it to* Mummy to my 2 gorgeous and amazing boys *0 -
That's a shame - but you could still wake up tomorrow morning and find out your supply has kicked back in.
More than 16 weeks has done a lot of good for him, anyway!I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
My breasts are engorged today. But he still wont take them
I have persisted all day to get him to, and he wont even acknowledge the breast never mind latch on.
I do not want to keep putting myself through the pain and the constant expressing if I can never go back to it. And he goes to dads on Monday so def cant have any feeding then.
I think I need to relieve the stress, but at this moment in my life I am not sure I can. Everything has gotten a little too much recently.* Mummy to my 2 gorgeous and amazing boys *0 -
Hi SMO2. I know you're stressed out and this has been a hard time for you so forget about feeding him but after he has had a bath, leave him naked apart from his nappy and get some skin-to-skin contact going. Make sure that he isn't too hungry, he may just nuzzle you for the warmth and start feeding without the pressure of being starving hungry at the same time.
Don't beat yourself up over it, you've certainly tried your hardest and he's had a good few months of your milk. Many kids don't even get the chance to BF, so give yourself a break and de-stress a bit this weekend, you've earned it."I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0
