Tenerife Question?

  • I regrettably went Full board to a Five Star Tenerife hotel last spring. The food was an absolute disgrace, not even fit for animals.

The hotel was the Adeje Gran. At the end of the day you generally get what you pay for, don't expect too much on AI hotel deals.

We went last year for the first time and I am amazed at some of the comments regarding food prices. we found it so cheap, a meal out for 4 of us, including 2 bottles of wine for 59 euros, I can't see that is expensive? Don't eat in the tourist restaurants, find some local restuarants, we went to a place called Neros and it was amazing and the service first class.

The cost of food out there is far, far cheaper than here.

When you go, a must visit is Loro Paque in Puerto de la Cruz, it is amazing.

Thank you so much for the info I thought it was going to be just beach holiday looks like its going to be more then just that.

    Will try to visit
    Siam park
Loro Paque is this easy to get to from Los Christianos?
    Sub Safari
Also Pilot whale trip (I think)

Whats the best way to purchase tickets e.g. from hotel, travel agent online? Is it best to pay with credit card or euros?

H/B I think will be easier for us as there are so many of us and it is easier for budgeting this time as the price (so long as the food is OK) is a fair price at the hotel.

Loro Parque is well worth the journey - you can catch the local Titsa (seriously) bus from LC.

We bought tickets on the day but found out after that we could have travelled cheaper with a Bono pass -I'm sure someone will be able to clarify

I'm a bit surprised by the post about the Adeje Gran, I thought that was near us one time and looked nice (is it the place with the grand piano and a bar out in the front of reception area, near the entrance?) Maybe I have the wrong place, but I thought that the place I saw looked really nice.

We stayed at a really nice AI in Tenerife but it was a very quiet resort, quite a bus ride away from Adeje. It was in Playa Paraiso, and was the Bahia Principe Costa Adeje. Really really nice hotel. Just a poor location.

Different hotel. Costa Adeje Gran is in Las Americas, you are thinking of Arona Gran in Los Cristianos, at least thats the one with the piano bar that you have described.
  • The Costa Adeje Gran I referred to in my post is in Adeje, a many miles away from Las Americas. It is up a hill about a mile away from the beach. The Hotel looks fabulous, the rooms are very good, the three pools are excellent, but the FOOD is / was a disgrace.
Even the breakfast was inedible. Maybe my standards are too high but I would have no hesitation in recommending a stay at the hotel but don't eat there.
