Oven cleaner?

Can anyone suggest a really good oven cleaning product? I have just set the smoke alarms off, the food was fine but the oven is in need of a good clean. Have purchased products before that don't do the job good enough. Any suggestions so I don't waste more cash?

Thanks

  • Oven pride thirded....

Turns all the stuff on the bottom of the oven into sludge that just wipes off after 4 hours.

Less success with the bars in teh bag but you can repeat the process, a damn site better than they were anyway!

Mr Muscle oven cleaner also worked wonders on the removable glass door on my oven. Couldnt really use oven pride on that as its too liquid, but the foaming Mr Muscle got it gleaming.

i also recommend ovenpride. can anyone suggest anything for the glass doors on ovens as mine is brown and usually takes me 2 hours of cif and elbow grease and each time i clean it i think right don't let it get in this state again but it does
  • Good timing....can of Mr Muscle oven cleaner!!!
  • We tried allsorts to clean ours and nothing worked. In the end we got a guy (found him by googling oven cleaner yourtown) he came and cleaned it and spent an hour. He took the shelves etc. to his van and dipped them.
Afterwards the oven was like new, but it did cost £25
Not exactly money saving, I know but it was well worth the money

Oven pride gets my vote too, brilliant stuff.
As for the glass doors, I find a brillo pad gets them gleaming, just make sure you rinse well after using a brillo pad.

Have a look at this thread - lots of opinions on what is best.

I personally like Oven Pride with the bag BUT I ruined one of the handles on my oven last time I used it, I thought it was brushed steel, only to find out it was matte nickel plate - which goes white if Oven Pride gets dripped on it. Cost me £25 (via eBay) for a replacement handle and frankly, next time I'm tempted just to call in a professional cleaner. For the time/effort (and the overall cost in the end last time) I think it might be my preferred option.
