O2 or 3rd Party - What's the Downside?

I'm getting fed up waiting for O2 to get the Blackberry 9780 up for sale and note that they've just brought the 9700 back in, so can't see the 9780 happening for a while yet.

However, I know that the likes of mobiles.co.uk and others have been doing the 9780 for a couple of months at a price I'm prepared to pay. As it's been about 10 years since I used anyone other than O2 direct, could someone please tell me the downside of not going direct with the airtime provider.

The other thing is that the O2 deals have unlimited O2-O2 calls at £25, but the other companies never mention it, which is a downer. Does anyone know anything about that?

02 have the 9780 in stores now. And you cannot get the 02-02 calls free if you have a Blackberry bolt on (which you of course need) as the 2 cannot be taken together, bizzarre but thats the way it is.

    CC limits £26000

    Long term CC debt £0

Total low rate loan debt £3000

    Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.

That's strange about the stores having the 9780, as the website has just reintroduced the older 9700 a couple of weeks after dropping it.

Just checked and on the website O2 still do their £25/month Blackberry deal with the BB bolt-on and unlimited O2 calls, which is what I'm after, but the phone cost is now £152. I bought two 9700s last year at £25/month and free phone, and I've noticed that the price of the phone goes up and down like a fiddler's elbow.

I want to buy through the website so that I can get the cashback, but O2 aren't playing ball at the moment.
