Sky Phone+Web deal (with Freesat?)

Hi, my old Sky package (phone, web, basic TV) came to about £35. (Before calls).

In an effort to save some pennies I recently downgraded the TV. Of course, they then went and increased the cost for the internet by £10, which means I now pay a total of £26 (Line rental + internet only).

With some hassle I could get a similar deal with O2 for £19.50 (+£45 connection fee), but I can't be bothered for the sake of the few quid plus the fact that the situation can change within 6 months.

The Sky customer service guy also said that I had to purchase a freesat card contrary to what I've been told on here by other people. I just checked the TV and it's still running but I'd like to know if it'll be turned off.
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.

If you have the new white smartcard, then no,you do not have to buy a new card HOWEVER the box will revert to Free-To-Air channels which may be marginally different than those on Freesat.
Also,I don't think it's possible to have Sky BBand & Phone without an active TV subsription.
  • I've just moved into a new flat that has a satellite connection socket in the wall. Plugging this into my Freesat TV I get Freesat no problems.

Plugging it into an old Sky+HD box gives me nothing.

However, at my previous address after I cancelled my Sky contract I asked to be put on the basic zero cost package and they did this for me. Have a search and you'll find that they can do this for you at zero cost to you (unless they've change policy very recently). Do a search for Free to Air and Free to View channels.

Not any more spike, they dropped that requirement about April-ish last year.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Indeed, you have to pay an additional £2.50/ month for BB+ Calls and no Sky sub.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
