Scam: Buying item, reselling it and claiming it never arrived

    If they don't sell the item for too much and don't use tracking I will buy it off them, say it never arrived and send it back to you at cost of postage.

    More robin hood, bad but for a good cause.

    By all means I wouldn't dream of doing it normally, but would it really be morally wrong to play them at there own game and get your item back?

    I understand your sentiment. But, yes both morally and legally wrong to do so.

    Ask seller a question on their auction under a throwaway ID. Offer them stupid money to do a Buy It Now. When they reply you know they have it and have some proof (though nothing ebay would accept it may jolt your buyer when they realise its you!)

    Legally wrong maybe, but i wouldn't says it morally wrong. Anyway it was partially a joke but not the worse idea I have ever had.

    You could als be subject to prosecution for chargeback fraud if you did.

    I thought the seller retained ownership of goods until they were delivered. The buyer maintains this has not happened so who owns the goods?

    That is a very good point. However isn't it the case that it is until paid for in full, and not delivered?
