Rotten beef from major supermarket

Hi everyone, I've got a question about beef purchases from a major supermarket -- this has happened loads of times to me now, am I really the only one?
Have you ever chosen perfectly good-looking meat (beef) from the fresh meat case, only to bring it home and find that it's rotting in the core? This happens all the time to me -- and no, it's not 'aged' -- this is plain-label meat, not the expensive stuff! I've never had a problem with the other big one!
Cheers,
Nicole

Why do you keep buying it then?
I've shopped consistently at JS for twelve years and never had rotten meat.
Phone the store and ask to speak to their store manager or contact their Customer Services at Head Office.
I'd hazard a guess (although someone on here will probably know for sure) that all the major supermarkets source their meat from pretty much the same suppliers.
Perhaps it's a fridge problem at the store?
Whatever it is you're not going to get a resolution unless you speak to someone at Sainsbury's.0 -
I thought that too but was too polite to say so!

Morty -- It's dark -- brownish, and smells really strong.
Sophie -- I decided to give a different branch a try, but still had the same result.0 -
stop buying it from a supermarket and buy it direct from your local butchers
I fail to believe that you keep getting rotten beef and you havent called or gone into your store to talk about it, obviously its a problem with your store :think:I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Good beef is brown :doh:unless you are looking for the red bloody beef thats been injected with extra blood to look appealing?
Personally brown beef that smells strong and meaty is wonderful, I wouldnt have my beef any other way.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. I am also failing to see how meat can be "rotting at the core".. and by the description it seems that it just changed colour as it naturaly would after it was dead for few hours.. (and is not just injected to look pretty)..0

If it's still within its sell-by date and it's 'off', I presume you took it straight back - what did they say?0

I have looked at some of the basics meat and it didnt look right to me, But there again what do i know about meat?
It may have tasted lovely, Isnt it supposed to taste better and be really tender once its starts to go a bit green?
I chose with my eyes though and didnt buy it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

you storing it right and is your fridge set at right temperature
if its gone off when you get home or after a few days of being in the fridge then return it for a refund, if more people return the meat they would then look into why there is a alot of meat beuing returned and if its from the same chiller eg mince in this case then they will get the chiller checked out0
