Who uses a Terramundi?

I've just ordered one with my Christmas money :j

What are you saving up for? Have you ever smashed one? How much was in it? Did you make use of the broken pot?

I have one which is going on for 2+ years now lol It's getting fuller but I only put in £2 coins and frankly I'm no longer sure what we're saving for :rotfl:
I do intend to use it as a flower pot when eventually we crack it and I think there should be about £400 in it if I remember rightly from the tag that was on it :) I do love mine though - it's very pretty :)
Must really try to fill it up this year so I can crack it ;)

I would take the money out regularly and put it in a savings account. I got burgled once and they took a huge jar of coins that I had been collecting. I had a hell of a job convincing the insurance company that I had had several hundred pounds of coins in the house.

We bought my dad one and he spent all year saving in it. Now once it was full everyone in the family had to guess the amount and write it in the pad. He told us silver had gone in it. This was good fun. Anyway when it was time to break it we gave the children little hammers (wrapped the terramundi in a teatowel lol) and let them smash it. They loved this. then we all helped count out the money inside. I think in the end it totalled £120!:D My 3 yrs old won lol - honestly with a little help - she was the closest and won some sweeties. When all this was happening she spent her time filling the money bags with 50p's and saying these were for the poor kids off the telly:A I think grandad felt guilty and some of the money went to charity afterall. x

I think they are a nice idea however I wouldn't buy one as I would rather save the cost of it in an old tin or I buy one of the can style ones for 59p out of home bargains. they are not as pretty but do the same job.
  • i saved £2 coins in mine all of 2010, couldnt break it though cos hubby bought it me and its lovely. so just before christmas he got a sharp tool out of his shed and cut a hole in the bottom for us to empty it. Thrilled to bits as it contained £150 . now the pot has a bung in the bottom and off we go again. just hope im not tempted to borrow from it now i can get in to it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
