Chipped windscreen

Got a big bang from a stone on my windscreen this morning, looks like it's chipped it, fortunately away on the passenger side.
Called autoglass and booked an appointment but they can't come out until a week on Saturday! At least not at a time that's convenient to me. Although they say I have a laminted windscreen so should be ok to drive with?
I have a Ford Fiesta with heated screen, can they be repaired by autoglass, and have the heating still work?

Windscreens are extremely durable these days and will not cave in. So yes, it's perfectly safe to drive.
As for the Ford heated screen, the heating elements can not be repaired but the chip can. You need to ascertain yourself whether the heated screen is still working. If not they you will need a new screen, but you must get a Ford heated screen.0 -
Please explain ?
As long as the elements are still working there will be no problem. One or two broken elements on the passenger side won't make much difference.
It annoys me when people partially quote me.....
The point I was making is if the heated screen does not work, it must be replaced with a Ford approved heated screen, rather than a cheaper non-Ford approved. I was not talking about whether one or two elements were notworking.
This is bordering on being pedantic.0 -
It's fine, it won't break through.
Mine had a crack and it spread like a seagull flying wings outstretched, while I waited for them to come and mend it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

I had a chip repaired outside my local Homebase by one of the windscreen chip companies you see with the gazebos up.
My Focus has a heated windscreen. As long as the heated screen works correctly before then it will work after.0 -
Cheers. What do you reckon to using the heated screen before the repair is made?0

Yes, use it so you can determine if there's a fault or not.0 -
Check your insurance policy as I had to go to a specified repairer for the chip repair, I didn't pay anything and the repair was very good.:hello:0

My insurance charge £20 for windscreen chip repairs even though its a fully com policy, Seems the winscreen excess
is creeping up as well, Maybe its because my screens heated?
Direct line wanted £125 excess, Current insurer is £75.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
