Need a dongle - best deal for PAYG

Here for an example is a page with both empty and preloaded 3 network SIMs. You are right in that it is important to choose one that has an allowance.

Many thanks everyone - a great help!"Buy me, Lady", said the frock, "and I will make you into a BEAUTIFUL & WHOLE & COMPLETE human being"."Do not be silly", said the Man, "for a frock alone cannot do that"."True", said the Lady, "I will have the shoes and the bag as well".:rotfl:0

Hi all, I just wanted to spread the word on the Three Mi-Fi. Three don't have the best reputation in mobile (justified or unjustified I wouldn't like to comment here but you can elsewhere) so they seem to go out of there way to offer good deals. Their mobile broadband deals are a lot more attractive than those of Vodafone and O2 etc.
I'm on the £40 up front for the Mi-Fi device + £15.99/month for 5Gb/month on a 1-month rolling contract. If you're just browsing Facebook and email you can probably get a lot of use out of 3Gb PAYG.
The only thing I would be cautious of is where you'll be using the dongle/Mi-Fi. I know someone in Chester who found the dongles almost useless. I live in Manchester City Centre and the quality of service is genuinely fantastic. 3G internet is fairly quick but the dongles can also sometimes pick up what's called the 3.5G signal (or HSPDA) which is quite hard to tell the difference from normal broadband (unless you're into heavy downloading)...it really is that quick.
If you can get the HSPDA signal (ask a techy/mobileophile friend maybe) then it's a no-brainer.0 -
Great!
So to summarise - I can get this: http://threestore.three.co.uk/dealsummary.aspx?offercode=1MB5GD014 and then cancel after one month and buy preloaded SIMS off ebay?
If that is the case then I think I'm ready to summarise my findings to my boss!"Buy me, Lady", said the frock, "and I will make you into a BEAUTIFUL & WHOLE & COMPLETE human being"."Do not be silly", said the Man, "for a frock alone cannot do that"."True", said the Lady, "I will have the shoes and the bag as well".:rotfl:0 -
Oh, just found this wile looking for a MiFi device for my iPad (wifi only)
What I see it as £40 for the MiFi on a one month contract at £15/month.
Total outlay £55
Then after seeing what sort of data I'm using I can go the eBay route if its not much or as I've been told by someone who works at three get a iPad Micro sim £15/m but with a huge 10GB data ... so double what the mifi plan is.
My only issue is do you have to tell them to cancel the contract right away (i.e. is it 30 days notice you have to give or is it after the first 30 days you can cancel and time you want)0 -
Also, does anyone know if these sims are a case of insert into the mifi and your off or do you need to activate them? If so is it a long process?0

As I already have an old Vodafone dongle (no longer used and heading for the bin) is it possible to simply buy Vodafone SIMS (like you can buy them cheaply from 3 with a gb/month useage limit). So far I've only heard about cheap '3' SIMS. But if Vodafone do the same this might save me a £70 outlay for the device? Or is an older device likely to be very slow?0 -

giggling at dongles aside ...
After a bit more searching it looks like you can get the MiFi for £32 by using quidco (I know, your not meant to think of cash back as guaranteed) http://www.quidco.com/mobiles/mobile-broadband/3-mobile/
So it's
£40 - MiFi
£15 - 1 month contract
----
£55
less £23 cash back

£32

For that price its a steal, you cant get them off ebay for cheaper and it will be a brand new one.0
