Wireless connection problem..strange!

So if I buy my own router, I will configure it to connect to my own ntl set up?

Can I expect my signal strength or speed to improve? Its permanently on low at the moment!

If you buy your own wireless router, you should then get excellent/good signal strength within your property but it can't make your connection speed any faster than you have now using your connection i.e. not your neighbours!

Not really on topic, but as you seem very web-savvy, I have a question for you.

I recently got broadband, and we have a laptop, we were given a basic USB broadband modem as part of the deal.

If I want to use the laptop in wireless mode, can I buy just a wireless "transmitter" that I can plug into the modem, or do I need to get a full router with modem all-in-one.

Trying to be money saving here, but wasn't sure if it would work.
