Virgin TV stopped working

Have Virgin TV package with the new 'black box' was watching TV last night, flipped over to watch a DVD, when that finished flipped back to watch TV and it won't work - box lights up and says 'BOOT' and on the tv itself it says 'Powering up....Just a moment' followed by the Virgin Media logo. The box itself does that scan thing where it goes through a list of 'channels' I suppose but it gets stuck on AP:52 and thats all that happens. Remote won't work, buttons won't work on the box itself, only thing I can do is unplug it. Tried turning it on and off, making sure card and cables are fine.

What do you mean by 'new 'Black Box'? Are you refering to the cable box itself or some sort of chipped cube?
What you have is a signal issue & the box has either died or been turned off by VM.0 -

I mean the actual tv box thing (like freeview box) - I only said the 'new black one' because when at my last house I had a completely different box, and I phoned virgin in the past and they asked if I had the older one or the black version
Im guessing it was probably a problem with VM themselves then as they were switching channels over last night....Will check to see if its working again this morning and make sure my channels haven't disappeared...MFW 2020 #111 Offset Balance £69,394.80/ £69,595.11

They're called Set Top Box or STB for short.
It could be an network outage however if you have cable broadband that wouldn't work either.
Try unplugging the box, wait for a few minutes & plug it back in,let it boot up.Once it's finished booting, wait another couple minutes before turning it on.
I've been away from VM (Service Tech) for a couple years so not fully up to date with the latest kit.

Set top box!! thank you Ive been trying to think of the name of it all morning haha, realised calling it a 'tv box' made me sound slightly silly...
It appears that it is now working - funny enough its now changed to AP:53 before switch-on instead of the old AP:52, and I still have GOLD :TMFW 2020 #111 Offset Balance £69,394.80/ £69,595.11

Are you turning the STB off at the mains at night?
If so,you'd be advised to leave it on to prevent the box crashing. The white box on the wall that the STB connects to is an Isolator. That's designed to blow if the is a power surge such as a lightning hit & the boxes,if given enough ventilation, wont overheat.0
