I have a Wii problem!

I would be so glad if someone can help.My son got a Wii for Christmas and we want to connect wirelessly to the internet. All went well except the only sight he can access is the bbc iplayer! So we know the Wii is actualy connected but he cannot access google etc.
He checked the parental control (the Wii was second hand)and nothing has been set.
Anyone know what we can do next?

Have you downloaded the browser from the Nintendo shop?

As it was used,he tried to download it but it seemed it was already there. The previous owner has downloaded some classic Sega games so we assumed it was working OK.:(He has 200 points remaining from the previous owner,we are absolutely stumped!

Have you updated the wii system since you purchased it? (if not don't do so yet, just answer ;) )

Yes the system has been updated.I tried to set it up before Christmas and it wanted the update, then again when my son connected it in the other room,so I suppose you could say it has been updated twice(if thats at all possible)We are both so puzzled.
  • its not a cracked/chipped wii is it

Firstly, does BBC iPlayer actually work ?

Seems a silly question, but it is clear internet has worked for the previous owner as iPlayer and download games are there, but you need to make sure internet is working for you.

Double check your internet connectivity :

Go to 'Wii Options' (bottom left of main 'home' screen)
Select 'Wii Settings' (right hand screen)
Scroll across to 'Internet', check your router settings and do a connection test.
If all is OK, move on, otherwise recheck all your Internet setting till a connection test works.

Check that BBC iPlayer works, and that you can actually watch a program on it

If you think the Internet Channel ('Opera' browser) is installed, try deleting it and re-downloading.

Go to 'Wii Options' (bottom left of main 'home' screen)
Select 'Data Management' (left hand screen)
    Select 'Channels' (right hand screen)
Select the Internet channel and erase it.

Then go to the Wii Shop channel, and re-download it (Zero Wii points cost)

Let us know how you get on ...

Did all that and it still will not work.
My son thinks there may be a firewall somewhere(where???) stopping him connecting to Google for example, but I would of thought if that was the case the iPlayer would be stopped also.
Anyone got any ideas before I go loopy!
Thanks to everyone who has tried to help
