Taking advantage of the extra Royal Bank Holiday plus Easter occuring together

Hi,

With Easter bank hols being on Fri 22nd April and Mon 25th April, then the extra Royal bank hol being on Fri 29th April, I've realised that if we book off the 3 days inbetween as holiday (Tues 26th, Wed 27th, Thur 28th), then we can have a whole 10 consecutive days off

We weren't especially planning a holiday, but this extra opportunity seems worth investigating, I wondered if anyone was aware of any good deals for short breaks over this period?

I did search the forum first, as thought someone else would have started a thread on this, but couldn't find one.

Thanks.

you forgot one day, the bank holiday on the 2nd May :) we talked about this at work today and 4 out of 6 people we were talking with had already booked their time off for Easter time.

No cheap deals for us though as yet flight prices to the US are nearly double what we paid in 2010
  • We have just booked flights to New York to take advantage of exactly this - we leave on Friday 15th April and return on Sunday 1st May for just over £400 each. Not the bargain of the century, but not too bad either, and because I am self employed the less days actual holiday I use the better :D

Hurry to beat the madding crowds I say (everyone will clock on soon enough!)

Good spot eslick! I knew there was the May bank hol shortly after, but hadn't realised it was attached to this other chunk of holiday. Even better :j

I'd really be after a bargain - we'll be taking a major holiday in September this year and would really only be wanting to go away in April if it's too good to turn down!

Guess I'll just have to keep my eyes peeled, but like 'My Fathers Daughter' I kind of wanted to get something sorted out asap before it's too late.
  • I don't even know if they'll give us it/ the time for it. Is that legal? Has it been made 'official' yet? I don't know how it works!

The Wedding Day is indeed an official Bank Holiday which makes 4 in the space of 10 days but the travel industry has already worked out that this may be boom time and prices have risen. If you want to book, do it soon

Alan, the new 'bank holiday' was already within the Easter holiday period anyway, so normally a high demand / peak season for prices due to school's being closed and some companies closing down for the easter break.

I guess it depends on each individual school, as loads of schools in my area (West Yorkshire) are closed the full week before easter and the full week after easter.

Noticed a while ago before the wedding was announced so booked a flight to NYC, the extra day is a great bonus.
Perhaps book the three days off any way and see what comes up.
