Dog hair - best vacuum?

I've just rehomed two gorgeous dogs, and their hair is already beginning to drive me mad!
The (ordinary) Dyson isn't doing the greatest job of picking up, and I'm thinking of getting something smaller to do the job. Tesco has a Vax Power 2 Complete, and I've looked at the little Dyson pet version - but would appreciate any advice.
Many thanks.

Depends on the colour of your dogs - if the dogs are white/beige, then the best hair collectors are expensive, dry clean only, black work clothes. If the dogs are black, then your poshest white cashmere jumper will do the job
.
I used a Dyson with the brush bar attachment. (you can just buy the animal hair attachment from Dyson direct) That was superceded by a cheapish Bosch, which is still better at removing long haired mog fluff than anything else I've had.
I still covet the Miele Cat & Dog though.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

One dog is black; one is beige... so I can collect hair on all clothes with equal success!
I don 't know whether the small piles gathering in the corners of my laminate floored lounge, or the hair on all soft furnishings is worse. Dogs, of course, are oblivious to all of this and just happy not to be in the kennels anymore :j
I'll check out the Bosch - think the Miele might be a bit put of my price range!

I only have a cheapy vacuum from Argos, which clogs easily with the combination of 4 ferrets and 2 long haired humans in the house (especially in spring when the ferrets shed their winter coats!), but I find if I sweep the carpets thoroughly with a stiff yard broom first, I can pick up the worst of the hair and bin it, then just get the rest of the dirt and hair with the vacuum.Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0

We have the Miele (minus the cat and dog attachment thing actually) and it does a wonderful job hoovering up our tabby cat's hairs.
Imagine it would be even better if you actually had the attachment.0 -

I have this. Interestingly the new replacement heads (mine is a hand me down and has seen better days and had no head so had to get a new one)are called''turbo'' or something, not ''cat and dog''. I'm sure its the same brush...only it doesn't have the paw mark on...and somehow therefor doesn't seem as good

Try the Dyson DC19T2 animal - I picked this up from John Lewis at £200 saving c£70, inc 5 years guarantee, and it is well worth it.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I have a ridiculously hairy black dog and laminate floor. Hair constantly gathers in balls around the room. Of course it's favourite place to collect is the cream carpets in the upstairs bedrooms...the dog doesn't ever go upstairs. It even sticks to vertical surfaces. Does anyone else have to hoover their walls? Anyway I digress...the only hoover we've had that has coped is the Dyson animal. We've had it exactly a year and it's fab.0

I had to vacuum the ceiling in my old flat. Seriously.
I have replaced the old vented tumble dryer now, as that must be how it got up there.
And have you looked between the fridge and the dishwasher or behind the radiator yet?:eek::eek:I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

I'm another vote for the miele cat and dog. I used to be a cleaner and this vac is by far the best for cat and dog hairs! What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0

Another Miele Cat and Dog (S5261 bagged cylinder version) owner here and it is great at picking up the hairs. Mum has one of the Dyson Animal cylinder ones and that does a good job too but I think the miele beats it though.
However the Dyson cylinder versions do tidy away for storage better - the tube wraps round the hoover and it is bagless whereas the miele I have does not store the tube and needs bags.
So think about whether you prefer uprights (miele also do an upright cat and dog version) or cylinders, what storage you have for it and whether buying bags would be a pain in the proverbial or whether you can live with it for the results.0
