    if you get a new sim the network may also be able to give a new number at the time, thus avoiding the calls from / about your brother

    They will but it may take some hassle to occur before they will consider this (or police involvement)

    On Orange you can also pay about £10 and get a new number at any time
  • I got a new number free a couple of years ago with Orange

    it depends who you get- I have been an Orange customer for a few years and never needed a new number

    I was getting nuiscance calls from a witheld number and they gave me a new one - no hassle
    baldly going on...

    Everyone has covered everything I was going to suggest, but on the asking for a new number front;
    It depends why you want it. If you call up and say I want a new number just because I feel like it, they'll charge you. If you say you're having malicious/nuisance calls then they should do it free, especially if you have a crime ref number.
