Still no assessment

  • Completely agree hun, I was gutted I was put in the position of having to use them at all .... now I just feel let down and angry.

I've been so patient with them, but I'm getting to the point now where my patience is running out and I just want to see some progress. I feel like I've been fobbed off since July and I think it is so wrong that someone who is working cannot be made to pay what they owe, when supposedly they have so many enforcement powers at their disposal.

I hope you get your assessment soon. Keep on at them - maybe even go to your MP?

Its an absolute joke isn't it!! CSA have a NRP who is paying and wants the reassessment done and they still don't do it lol!! Sometimes I have to laugh or I would cry!! Its the fact that i no, once the reassessment is done, if we haven't been paying enough they will be on the phone, demanding money for arrears that we haven't got lol, even though its entirely their fault its tyaken so long to sort out!! Will get OH to give them another call tomorrow and if we still get fobbed off will conatct my MP, it really doesn't make the csa look very good when a NRP trying to do the right thing is continually being fobbed off!! Hope u have some joy with your assessment very soon, good luck!!

Had a reply from my MPs office today to say they have contacted CSA on my behalf and requested a full review of my case.

I no longer feel I am fighting this alone!

Also, I had put in a formal complaint letter to CSA with my MP cc'd and have had a letter this morning acknowledging receipt of the letter with a promise that they will investigate.

Fingers crossed this means progress is round the corner .....

Just had a phone call from the CSA Complaints Team in response, noting my MP is involved.

Amazing how quickly they can now see what the problem is on my case :p

Apparently it is all the fault of the benefits computer but this will now be rectified and an assessment will be done on his wages, backdated to when he stopped being in receipt of benefits.

I have been promised a call next week with an update on progress, and the lady gave me her full name and promised it would be her calling personally.

Anyone else out there struggling - get your MP on the case, it seems to have just resolved 10 months of misery for me overnight!!!! :D

Cr*ppy going on isn't it!?! Hope you get some money soon. I feel like I've turned a corner now, but I know the battle isn't won as I've yet to get a penny .... and until the first payment touches my bank account I won't be settling!

  • We are on the other side of the coin, my OH has been paying CSA directly via DEO since 2009, last July he started a new job, we informed csa before he even started the job so he could be re-assessed and made arrangements to pay via standing order until the reassessment was done, we have also been making higher payments voluntarily until the reassessment is done. We sent in 5 weeks of payslips which csa received at the beg of sept, we have been on and on at them but still the reassessment has not been done!!! We have been totally upfront and honest and provided everything they have asked for and still no reassessment!!! Its an absolute joke!! We want it sorted so we know exactly what we have to pay, even though we are paying a higher amount voluntarily i still worry its not enough and we are going to have arrears to pay!! CSA are an absolute nightmare!!!
After e-mailing a formal complaint to CSA and contacting my MP on friday about the length of time our assessment has taken, we heard from CSA on Tuesday telling us our case had been allocated to a caseworker, and that the paylips we had sent in to them in August were now in STORAGE!!!! She said she had requested them from storage and when she received them she would do the reassessment herself and get back to us. We then had a phone call from her yesterday to tell us the paylips had, in fact BEEN LOST!!!! and could we please re-send them!!! ARGHHHH!!!! we have now re-sent the paylips, I will call them again nxt week to make sure they have been received but I am hoping that because we now have 1 single point of contact at CSA things will actually start to move forward and the assessment should be done in a couple of weeks (hopefully!!!)

How annoying! Make sure you copy them before you send them if you have to send originals, and send recorded delivery so you can prove they arrived!!! I think you go on Royal Mail website and enter the barcode from your little slip and it tells you if it has been signed for - print that out as your proof!!!

Yes, I feel better knowing now I have someone personally dealing with it. Amazing how quickly they jump into action though once MPs are mentioned!!:p

I won't crack open the lemonade just yet, as until I receive a penny in my account, I won't believe the stress has subsided.

  • To be honest, all the recorded delivery signature will proove is that the letter went to one of the DWP postal sections, it's no guarantee that it was then sent on to a CSA office, or indeed the caseworkers who action the changes.
  • I no i did think about sending recorded but didn't bother in the end as they do actually admit they they did receive the last lot of payslips we sent - they just lost them lol!! Like my OH said tho 0- where actually have the payslips gone then???? A little bit worrying tbh!! I will ring our caseworker nxt week and make sure she has received them, if not I'll see if we can fax them through, I just want it sorted out lol!!! The worst thing is that my OH has recently resumed contact with his children and his ex mentioned overnight stays, we have said we'd prefer it to stay under the 52 nights per year if possible so we don't have to go through the pain of reassessment yet again!!

That sounds positive though! My hubby would love for things to be amicable with his ex wife again as he hasn't seen his daughter now since August 2009, all over hassle caused by CSA assessment. We just don't have the money to go to solicitors etc to fight it at the moment, and keep hoping and praying she'll wake up one day and feel bad about what she's done. I'm not holding my breath though. That's the one thing my ex can't throw at me, as even though he hasn't handed a single penny over for almost a year, he has still seen his kids every other weekend. I couldn't stop that, it would destroy them.

I wouldn't let CSA reassessment put you off having the kids more than 52 nights though - after everything you're going through now, why give in to them over something which is such a positive x
