What are the model numbers of each? LG's are known for not displaying blacks well e.g. watching a movie with a lot of dark shadow scenes would not look as good (the black would be a bit grey) as some Samsung / Sony TVs.
What are their prices?
I've recently bought this TV. I doubt you'll find better for the price.0 -

The Sony is a HD Ready TV and not Full HD. Since the pixel resolution is 1366 x 768 it's less than ideal because a 1080i/1080p signal to a HD Ready TV will scale down the signal resolution to fit its smaller screen resolution.
Full HD TVs have a screen resolution of 1920x1080, so when a 1080i or 1080p signal is feed into it, it's able to display the picture in its full glory at 1920x1080 with no resolution loss.
However unless you sit closer than 5-7 feet away you probably won't see the difference.
If you can afford the extra £49.5 I'd go for the Samsung from Amazon however as it's only a 32 inch I'm sure the Sony will be just fine.
The LG is a Full HD TV and whether this will result in a better image than the Sony is a good question - I'm not sure. I suspect this may be an Argos only TV and as such you may find it difficult comparing the two. I reiterate my point above about LGs and their lack lustre blacks.0 -

If you don't have Sky HD or another HD source then you'll just get standard defination TV. Personally I'd say the Sony was a better choice and given you're not fussed about HD I'd go for this. I assume you don't have a PS3 or XBox?0 -

Or this one is £285 was £449

In that case you then have HD input. I don't own a PS3 or a HD Ready TV so I can't say whether you'd notice any difference between the Sony (HD ready) and the LG (Full HD).I didnt really understand that lol i dont want HD really just want a nice larger tv to watch programme on if you know what i mean.So is the sony a better tv
It should also be noted the Sony has an inbuilt freeview tuner so unless you want specific Sky channels you could just use this.Or this one is £285 was £449
Samsung LE32C450E 32 Inch HD Ready Digital LCD TV
I'd pick the Sony or Samsung over the LG. Which is better I don't know. I'd read the reviews on Argos and make a judgement call. There's a decent review of the Samsung here. As I say though, I've no idea if the Sony is better.0
