    Here ya go, Rachel...

Do you want a debit card instead?

If you can't get a credit card due to a weaker credit rating, or would prefer a bank account with a debit card to spend on abroad, you have a few options:
    • Norwich & Peterborough BS has changed its current account range, for both new and existing customers, to have 0% overseas spending fees and no cash withdrawal fee worldwide. However to avoid all charges you must meet some requirements...
      Gold Classic
The Gold Classic card charges a £5 fee unless you pay in £500 per month (approx £6,100 salary). There's also a £5 monthly fee if you go into your authorised overdraft by more than £10.
      Gold Light
The Gold Light card charges a £5 if you make fewer than five transactions a month. There's no authorised overdraft for new customers, so ensure you don't spend more than you have in the account or you'll be hit with some big fees.
Expect the worst & hope for the best...
  • OK so we are interested in switching away from Nationwide to this N&P account as my wife regularly travels to France to visit family, so the fee-free ATM and purchases is an important benefit. In fact it's why my wife switched to use Nationwide as her main account in the first place.

No issues with the £500/month as it would be her main account. OK the overdraft fees are punitive but that can be avoided.

So, some queries before we apply :-

    - anyone with experience of using this account. Any comments?
    - how is their online banking? Branch service not important to us, we're in Wales, so good online banking is a must.
    - I know N&P don't support faster payments so how long would it take to make payments into the account from another bank?

    Cheers.

Three days for payments to arrive - transfer on a Monday and it will arrive on a Wednesday

BACS payments out of the account take three days to arrive at the destination and the cut off point appears to be 5pm or 5:30pm - so transfer on Wednesday and it will arrive on Friday

Internet banking seems to be very reliable and I cannot recall it being unavailable at any time in the last 2 years

Transaction history is viewable for six years

You can send messages to the Bank via internet banking
