Santander not sent new card

There's a number of reasons the card may not have arrived, a common one I'm seeing in branch recently is a card or statement that has - for whatever reason - been returned to head office.
This triggers off what's known as a 'Gone Away' indicator on the account and this will prevent any renewal cards from automatically being sent out. A returned mail indicator may occur in a similar scenario causing the same problem.
Worth checking to make sure someone hasn't sent a statement or card BACK to santander without your knowledge, causing no more cards to be sent for security reasons/fraud prevention.0 -
Card came today. Still very poor customer service from them.0

Why did you not pop into a branch or call last month and ask about this? The expire date is stamped on the card, it wasn't going amend itself to give you a few more months.
I don't mean to be funny but sometimes people cause their own problems.0 -

My Dad just assumed due to the bad weather and the delayed post (i was getting post delayed by 2 week) that it was in the system just taking its time to get delivered. The xmas happened and this delays things further0 -
I've just had this problem for the second time with Smile (Co-operative Bank). They did it to me 6 months ago and when I called they said it was because I was using my £250 overdraft on a regular basis (!?) and that I had to "apply" for a new card. It then took 2 further attempts (and a lot of shouting!) to finally get a card, which they would only issue for 6 months.
6 months has passed, and no card, despite an email from them at the beginning of Dec saying they were sending my card and so long as my details were still the same no further action was required.
I sent them a secure message on 1 Dec which basically a rant (constructive complaint!) but they haven't even bothered to reply!
It's causing all sorts of problems - I haven't been able to pay my car tax online for example meaning I've had to find time to go to the post office. Their helpful advice 6 months ago was "perhaps you have a friend you can trust who you can transfer the money to and they can withdraw it for you"!!!!!
Fortunately my husband also banks with them and money transfers are instant otherwise I would be totally stuffed.
I would be interested to know what my rights are on this. They are denying me access to my money. Does anyone have any advice before I phone them?
I suggest you start a new thread with this one as it may get overlooked.
I would change banks!0
