Pony Insurance

NFU are good for customer service, as are SEIB. E&L are rather notorious for their service and paying out. If it's not included in the insurance, British Horse Society membership is a good way to get third party insurance - they have always paid out on reasonable claims in my experience, and their prices are pretty good (I just have BHS membership for the 3rd party cover, and a savings account for vets bills, due to the number of exclusions my accident-prone doofus now has)0

Thank you so much i have had a few quotes and am awaiting another few.
He is a little chesnut shetland who is very cheeky and sounds like scooby doo when we call him! the kids had a lovely day with him today and we plan on spending Saturday with him to get him all groomed and looking good. We are very lucky to have an amazing little riding school so close by and i think they are glad to have someone keep him at tyhe same place.
Chakani doesnt sound like your having much luck with your horse lol! What's for you won't go past you0 -
With regards to what you're covered for, check into the disposal costs and whether they're covered and if so what's covered by that section. I recently had my 14.2hh put down and was shocked to discover disposal wasn't covered. At a time I was absolutely distraught I had to try and get the money together to pay for this and find someone to do it (something that I should have looked into previously) Not a nice thing to think about but something that I could have avoided if I'd checked

DD has her horse insured with NFU. You can pick and choose elements of the policy to suit - e.g. personal accident, school fees, third party liability, vets fees etc.
Are you very experienced with ponies only if a newbie please do your homework on shetlands. They can be very prone to putting on weight and so you will need to ensure you watch this to make sure he stays healthy.
I am sure there is a site for shetland owners who will give you lots of help. Good luck and enjoy your pony.0 -
KBIS is worth looking into as well, I've had my Shetland insured with them for many years and they've been great. Enjoy your new pony!
