    I've been Money Tipped!
Pet Plan have been very, very good to us.
  • Please avoid the company that has the leaflets in the horse magazines as they can Entertaining & Leisurely when it comes to a claim. Can i recommend AIMS? part of the excellent SEIB group. They sadly dont have a website but here is a C&P of their ad:

Spread the cost with FREE direct debit.
    Compare our prices:
    Death, Theft/Straying & £5,000 vets fees

    eg £1,000 sum insured . . . . . . .JUST £222.78
All above premiums include IPT and charges.

    Call AIMS on 01708 850099

They have paid out 2 big, complicated claims with no problems in the 5 years i have used them for my 2 boys :)
If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs, its just possible you haven't grasped the situation ;)

Pet plan are excellent but wanted nearly twice the premium that i paid with AIMS...

  • I'm paying around £12 per month with petplan for my shetties insurance - they're not ridden so are just classed as horse at grass which makes it cheaper.

My big lad is insured through Scottish Equestrian and they're also really reasonable. Unfortunately I've had to make big claims with both companies but both paid up no problems.

Another thing to bear in mind - Petplan will offer sickness cover upto 25 where as most go onto an injury only policy at 17-20

I second the Petplan-also as previously mentioned avoid the Entertaining & Leisurely payers like the plague. I got stung by them a few years back.
Toodles-SAHM to a beautiful 3 year old DD, Baby #2 on the way!
Just started comping 02/11/11 Everything crossed!

thank you so much! I will have a few quotes done and see who offers the best policy. He is a lovely little 6 year old shetland from the riding school, they put him up for sale due to the girl loaning him outgrowing him and at the time they didnt have any young children to ride him (until my lot arrived!).

He is in perfect health but i would rater be safe than sorry. thanks again x

  • You could try SEIB, which someone else has mentioned. I know Derby House have an offer where you get lots of Derby House vouchers when you take out a policy. Details are on the Derby House website.

Horse insurance should automatically include a public liability element, like there is with most dog insurances. Just check the policy wording to confirm. It's basically to cover if the horse kicks someone, or runs out into the road and causes an accident - that sort of thing.

A couple of my friends use NFU Mutual and seem happy with them... might be worth trying a quote? Happy new horse by the way! :j :T
