I have been given my son's wedding photos in AVI format and would like to convert back to Jpeg. I hve tried one or two freeware programmes without success.
Any advice please?
Thanks Azza

Was this one of the programmes you have already tried?

No, this wasn't one of them. Is it worth a go? One of the ones I tried was AVS4You. One I tried did convert to Jpeg but unless I bought the full package it put waterwarks over the photos.

AVI is a video codec. Do you mean you want to capture frames as stills? If so, Windows Movie Maker is as good as anything.I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.

If Movie Maker does not suit

To extract a still image from a video sequence, just go to the desired image. It is easy to scan image by image, thanks to the next frame and previous frame buttons which let you find the exact frame you want. Once found the frame, just go to the menu File > Save > Save JPEG image.
add .jpg after the file name you use
If you choose save selection as jpeg images it will save the video frame by frame, though make sure you have a folder set up for them as there will be lots of those0 -
Hi
I have being using this and never had any problems, it allows you to do most things

Hope this is of some use and very easy to use.0 -
Thanks for your replies. I will have a look at your suggestions. I think the problem here is that the photographer saved the jpegs to AVI to present us doing our own copies of photos!

You cant save photos as avi, avi and jpegs are entirely two different formats, jpegs are for photos and avi is for video which includes video, sound. If its recorded as avi you can get stills with right software but normally it wont be brilliant quality as a rule0

The disc is a slideshow of all the wedding pictures but in AVI format.

A professional photographer then - that's exactly what he did - he's the copyright holder and you have no right whatsoever to produce your own copies of the pictures.
You can follow the advice above for some low-res copies, but pay the man what he deserves if you want proper prints!I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.

A very crude method would be to just press print screen key, this will save image to clipboard you should then be able to import/paste it into a paint programme and edit.0
