It is busy at this time but according to others when it is the English holidays there are queues and queues of people so prefer to go the week we do.

    We usually go mid august.

There are queues to get into the shows and swimming first thing in the morning but that is about it, we have never encountered queues for anything else. Go swimming in the afternoon, no queues then.

As for the shows. Well, they start queing at 4pm and doors open at 7pm. Madness. NO show is worth seeing that much is it? Usually it's only x-factor or BGT finalists that were only in the final but did not win. The big stars do not appear every night and will only be there at select dates and times. On all the times we have been we have never been there when one of the good acts have been on.
  • Queing isnt too bad normally about 1/2 ish before opening max BUT it did get silly for one of the Xfactor finalist (appaerntly q started at 4) and then to top it off they seriously over packed the place. Other than that I enjoy Butlins.

  • Skegness, its so good! big site with everything u want and more, even a spa for a bit of pampering. Titan the robot is usually on and lazy town are there for the little ones this year too...theres a free funfair, trampolines, go karts, indoor kiddies play area, arcades, bingo, shops, the beach is amazing...its private to butlins typical seaside with striped deckchairs, donkey rides etc..the swim pool is excellent and the entertainment is brill...yes theres queues and some ppl dp queue for hours, we dont and have got seats every time to watch x-factor etc....theres also a cinema and sports courts/climbing walls on and on....next to butlins and 5 mins away is fantasy island theme park and massive market which is A1...5 mins in other direction is skegness town-what a brill place, beach, shops, pleasure beach theme park, even a free outdoor swim/paddling pool.

we stay in private caravans, (google caravans at butlins skegness) not butlins owned. caravan site is on butlins site..theres shops/laundrettes/crazy horse saloon...our van was 2 mins walk from main complex...cvan park is so friendly, we made friends we still in touch with. we like cvans coz so much cheaper & so much room and at night we sit on veranda and have a little drink as kids sleep.

Butlins is not chavvy, butlins is A1 :T:T:T

  • We haven't been to Butlins since 2006 because of the price during school holidays we just couldn't afford it. We priced it for whit this year and they wanted £1000 for 7 of us in a Bronze apt. After looking around we have just booked a private caravan (never done it before) for £380 mon-fri :)

personal experiance, i used to work at minehead, and have visited bognor on holiday, and although i love minehead, to go on holiday i would say bognor, as it has all that minehead has plus more( the 2 hotels), but is about half the size, so does not take you as long to get around the complex, that is the only downside to minehead is its size, i will say whilst working there for nearly 10 years, i did wonder what the attraction of it was, but now having been left for nearly 10 years and having kids ourselvs, and going to haven/pontins/parkdean, and then finally getting to butlins through the sun, i certainly can see the attraction, it may cost more to go to butlins, but it is like the old saying you get what you pay for, we loved our stay at bognor

We have only ever been to the Bognor one. Altho some may say the place being smaller is a plus,it really isn't. Since they built the 2 hotels, they havent really factored the fact that alot of activiies and shows will be twice as busy. They've not put on anymore shows etc to factor this, which is a shame.

  • We ve only been to Skeg and stayed in silver apartments, but to be honest we weren't that impressed with the standard of our accommodation for the cost of it. Have only realised looking on here about hiring caravans and I have to say this seems to be the way forward. Think we'll give that a go next time:T :j

Have a look here for Butlins Skegness Caravans.

I have been twice thru this site and thoroughly reccommend it.

They do budget up to super luxury...

Make sure you choose a caravan near the tunnel because it is a big caravan site and can be a trek to the main resort.

    Enjoy
Am i here to save money or spend money......hmmmmm
  • with everyone into booking caravans i hope i can get booked in the summer lol but if theres nothing for the dates you want owners will put you onto some one who has a free caravan or get back to you because people often cancel.

  • we always went to butlins when the kids were younger and and always got it cheap. we mostly went to pwllheli and minehead money was tight so we would save what we could and work as much ot as possible in the month before our week off. we would pack and be ready to go. on the friday night i would phone butlins and ask what they had available for the saturday and then haggle.we had some brill hols in gold and silver accom and caravans and always paid less than half price. we would turn up on the satuday with a booking ref and then go to reception to pay cash. btw the last time i did this we had a sat-sat(last wk july 2008) in skegness 2 bed silver sc for £226 and when we got there they put us in gold :)
