Butlins Advice

Options
Hi
I have never been to Butlins, could anyone tell me the best park to go to? I have 2 year old twins and a 6 year old If I go out of school holidays does anyone know if the activities and clubs are open for older children? Is the expensive accomodation worth it? And is there any promotions or good times to go when its cheaper. I was hoping to try and get a sun deal but as I am restricted on dates may have to just book it anyway.
Thanks for reading.

All the parks are good, my favourite in order would be Minehead, Skegness, Bognor - minehead and bognor is just a stroll along the beach into town.

I believe that they have less on during school time, more geared for your 2 year olds, i would imagine, but i have only gone during half terms.

They have offers on fairly regularly,so keep an eye out.

EDIT - just looked online at butlins and currently have first child goes free and money off, so worth getting yourself a quote now.

  • I would try an hold out for the sun deal but Butlins is good for kids of all ages and there will be things for all the kids to do. I have only been to minehead (well skegey once but a long time ago so cant really comment) but we do enjoy it and come back for more. I have done self catering and half board and although expensive the half board was worth it. The self catering equiptment was ok I just found we ate out a bit due to my laziness. Shops on site and a tescos and I belive now a morrisons both around the corner from the site and within walking distance. The town is also walkable and there is a mini train that you can go on. I would go silver at least as I have heard moans about standard and I never had probs with silver.

I agree with fork, but would put my preference of parks in reverse order - all down to personal preference!

I haven't been on a Sun break before, but my brother has been able to get his preferred dates at Skeg for as long as I can remember, so worth a try?

I would say that the Silver accom is well worth it, and I would go for the Gold if going half board - the silver restaurant is a bit of a free for all! I think you can book Silver accom and pay to upgrade your dining options, but I'm not sure how much it costs.
    Gone ... or have I?

The kids love butlins and there is plenty to do for all ages. We try to go every year for a w/e and my tesco clubcard vouchers generall pay for them.

I have only been to Bognor and Skeggy but my fav is Bognor cause of the hotels. The Hotel are great if that's what you are looking for:)

We took our 4 year old Last may, and are ready to book with the Sun again this year( I found at least 6 dates compatible with half term and the start of the school holidays) and he loved it!
I enjoyed it far more than i expected too, little one was entertained by many shows, T t ank engine made an appearance, and all the rides were free apart from a token for the go karts. The pool was lovely, and we stayed in Bognor, plenty to do nearby too, and very close to the beach, which although a pebble one, kidlet didn't seem to mind :)
Great fish n chip shops along the front, plus a beefeater ( i think?) where we had a nice meal & little one played in the ball area.
I would happily go a few times a year there if i could afford it... never tried the others as we wanted one the closest due to travel with a child who suffers badly from car sickness!!

  • My whole family ( except my husband!) loves Butlins from toddler to adult ( including the ever so hard to please teens !!) .... we have only ever been to Bognor and it is great...loads to do for all ages and mostly included in the price. We only did self catering once...ever since we have had the dining option - I really cant believe the choice you get... and you can go up as often as you like which is so good for fussy eaters and trying new foods. We usually stay in a silver appt...but have been considering upgrading, but WOAH.... even the silver appt prices are really high by the time you have paid for each person and then added the dining option ( which is really good value tbh) - I costed it out for a weekend and we could honestly have a week abroad for a similar price....but the kids do love it so much....dilemma ...!!
I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes ;)

Hi I have just booked for Minehead never been, but did you know that Butlins have caravan sites next too them if you google Private hire caravan minehead/skegness there are loads available.

Here is an example of one http://www.butlinslakeside.co.uk/page_1204321841060.html

We have just booked a caravan for a week in July for £400 all passes are included, get the best of both worlds the use of all the facitlies , and more space than the apartments.

Have been to Haven for years but my eldest wanted more to do and this has worked out £260 cheaper than going to one of the smaller haven sites.

    The entertainment looks great

I have just booked a break for next oct, managed to get a great deal in the deluxe apartments last time so we were in the yacht club, decided to upgrade this time even though we are in silver. So reading your comment makes me glad!

To the OP I was nervous about butlins as my daughter was keen to go but i was worried about it being far too tacky, but its fantastic for children, we went half board and struggled to spend the girls holiday money on things as there was just so much to do
