Moving your phone number without cancelling contract
Does anyone know if it's possible to transfer your number (from o2) to a different provider, but without cancelling the contract?
I'm 8 months into a 24 month contract, and figured that I can get a sim-only deal (with data) for a fraction of what I currently pay, which I can make back my lowering my tariff, which I think I can do from 9 months.
But, I'd want to keep my number, and not sure if transferring it would constitute cancelling my contract, therefore having to pay it all up front.
If it comes to it, I may just buy myself out anyway, depending on how low a tariff they can get me on beforehand.

It's not. Using a PAC closes the account and O2 are unlikely to issue a PAC at the 8 month point without payment of the outstanding termination fee first, which would be charged at (months reminaing x current monthly fee) minus a bit off for no VAT and a possible few % reduction.0 -
Thought as much. Perhaps I'll have to gradually lower my tariff to the lowest they will allow, and then just pay it off in one go. Assuming I can get it down to around £20 from £30 (not sure if I will be though) I'll still be better off.0
