Petrol station nearest me has unleaded price at £128.9 whilst another about a mile away has unleaded at £124.9.
Why such a difference, has VAT change been adjusted by more expensive station?

Unlikely, but not impossible.
I spotted one at 129.9 3 days ago in Lisburn, but paid 124.9 in Newry the same day.
I really believe that it has got to the stage where forecourts (independents at least) are just seeing how much they can get away with. Problem is we all need it! A few extra pence per litre is a pain, but I need to drive for work, so can't just stop buying it.0 -
Maxol at Glengormley Diesel £1.309p
Welcome to rip off Britain!
now £1.339p0 -
One of my local stations today has diesel at 132.99p / litre.
Happy new year every one.0 -

Gives the cheapest place near your postcode, have to register to get names, but it's usually asda !
I did fill my car up at tesco a month or so ago and ended up having to drain it all out again ! It run worse and worse until it would not go anymore. No fun removing £79 of diesel. Of course Tesco don't want to know.
I go to BP now, costs an extra £1.40 or so a fill up, but that's small beans compared to the hassle I had with tescos cr*p. :mad:0 -

DH had the same problem with Tesco diesel a year or two back to the point where lows revs e.g. when approaching a junction would cause the car to stall. A work colleague had the same problem which the recovery guy immediately suspected was Tesco fuel which was exactly what had happened. For the sake of an extra £1-£1.50 I use an independant as does the husband. Not touched supermarket fuel in over a year and the car does run smoother.0 -
I was advised by a 'petrol-head' friend to avoid fuel from Tesco or Asda. We had no end of problems with our last car using Tesco petrol. He recommended BP.
He also told me that Sainsbury's is supposed to be better so, to avoid BP prices, we use them instead. So far so good.Norn Iron Club Member 3300 -
Must say mine runs better with BP and noticeably so. Went from about 30mpg to 34mpg from using asda and tescos.
I however did use the Ultimate stuff once I'd removed the tesco diesel and changed fuel filters to give it a bit of TLC for the tesco crud I'd poured into it. It's about 3-4p more than normal diesel, supposed to have additives in it to help clean your engine etc. I haven't noticed any difference between it and normal BP diesel nor has mpg improved.
Filling up costs about £75 now, so for the sake of £1.50 I'll stick with BP and the garage near me in Ards if you spend £10 in store you get 5p/L off fuel !0 -
In Carrickfergus, I go (literally) to Go! on the Belfast Rd. Cheaper than Tesco by a penny or 2. I filled up last night before the VAT hike. Was £1.21 then, and now is only up to £1.22 for unleaded0

I always buy in Asda and have never had problems with my car. :T0 -
I've been filling both our cars with Tesco fuel (both petrol and diesel) for years without any problems and getting loads of Clubcard points, as have most of my extended family tbh. Urban myth re supermarket fuels. Too many variables re fuel consumption and/or performance and for every 'dodgy supermarket fuel' experience, you could equally get the same experience from other petrol/diesel retail outlets.0
